Hannah Wilke
Hannah Wilke (born Arlene Hannah Butter; March 7, 1940 – January 28, 1993) was an American painter, sculptor, photographer, video artist and performance artist. Wilke's work is known for exploring issues of feminism, sexuality and femininity. Biography Hannah Wilke was born on March 7, 1940 in New York City to Jewish parents; her grandparents were Eastern European immigrants. In 1962, she received a Bachelor of Fine Art and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia. She taught art in several high schools for approximately 30 years and joined the faculty of the School of Visual Arts. After her graduation the same year she taught art at two high schools. First, Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania (1961-1965), between 1965 and 1970 she worked in White Plains, New York. René Wilke (born 30 June 1984) is a German politician (Die Linke), Lord Mayor of Frankfurt (Oder), and a former member of Brandenburg's regional parliament. 2014 he became a directly elected Member of parliament for his native Frankfurt (Oder). On 18 March 2018 he was elected ''Oberbürgermeister'' (Lord Mayor) of Frankfurt (Oder). Rudolf Wilke (27 October 1873, Braunschweig - 4 November 1908, Braunschweig) was a German caricaturist and illustrator; best known for his work at the satirical magazine, ''Simplicissimus''. Life and work He was the eldest child of Johannes Wilke, a carpenter. Two of his younger brothers also became artists; , who was a painter and commercial artist, and , who was also a caricaturist. After serving an artisanal apprenticeship, he attended the building trades school in Holzminden. His artistic inclinations led him in another direction, however, and he took lessons from the landscape painter, Adolf Nickol, at the polytechnic academy in Braunschweig. Günther Wilke
Günther Wilke (23 February 1925 – 9 December 2016) was a German chemist who was influential in organometallic chemistry. He was the director of the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research (Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung) from 1967–1992, succeeding Karl Ziegler in that post. During Wilke's era, the MPI made several discoveries and achieved some financial independence from patents and a gift from the Ziegler family. The institute continued as a center of excellence in organometallic chemistry. Wilke's own area of interest focused on homogeneous catalysis by nickel complexes. His group discovered or developed several compounds including Ni(1,5-cyclooctadiene)2, Ni(allyl)2, Ni( C2H4)3. Some of these complexes are useful catalysts for the oligomerization of dienes.
