Wilf Proudfoot
George Wilfred Proudfoot (19 December 192119 July 2013) was a Conservative Party (UK), British Conservative Party politician and former Member of Parliament (MP). He was also a prominent North Yorkshire businessman, well known for his ownership of the Proudfoot supermarket chain and Radio 270. In later life he embarked on a new career as a hypnotist, hypnotherapist and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Practitioner) and Instructor. Military Cross
The Military Cross (MC) is the third-level (second-level pre-1993) military decoration awarded to officers and (since 1993) other ranks of the British Armed Forces, and formerly awarded to officers of other Commonwealth countries. The MC is granted in recognition of "an act or acts of exemplary gallantry during active operations against the enemy on land" to all members of the British Armed Forces of any rank. Eastfield, North Yorkshire
Eastfield is a town and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It was often considered a suburb of the town of Scarborough, and is located next to the town's boundaries. It was granted town status in January 2016. According to the 2011 UK census, Eastfield parish had a population of 5,610, a reduction on the 2001 UK census figure of 5,863. The town council is Eastfield Town Council. The area has a mid-size Industrial Park (Olympian Trading Park), the rapidly expanding Scarborough Business Park, and Plaxton Park is on the outskirts of Eastfield. Seamer, Scarborough
Seamer is a village and civil parish in the Scarborough district of North Yorkshire, England. It was the location of the Mesolithic Age settlement of Star Carr. The parish is composed of the townships of Seamer and Irton and the chapelry of East Ayton. Its area is 8,450 acres, of which 18 acres are covered by water, 4,422 acres are arable, 2,178 acres permanent grass and 738 woodland. (fn. 1) The subsoil is Alluvium, Oxford Clay, Corallian Beds and Inferior Oolite. In Ruston Cliff Wood by the Derwent, the western boundary, are Whetstone Quarry, Whetstone Trod, Ayton Forge Cottages and Wallis Quarry, and there is a quarry at Crossgates. Jenners
Jenners is a former well-established department store in Edinburgh, Scotland, situated on Princes Street. It was Scotland's oldest independent department store until the retail business was acquired by House of Fraser in 2005. It closed in December 2020 at the Scottish Government COVID-19 lockdown and was vacated by House of Fraser in May 2021. The building will eventually be restored. History Jenners was founded as "Kennington & Jenner" in 1838 by Charles Jenner FRSE (1810–1893), a linen draper, and Charles Kennington. The store has never left its site on Princes Street, but its original building was destroyed by fire in 1892. Kumbh Mela or Kumbha Mela () is a major pilgrimage and festival in Hinduism. The Royal Air Force (RAF) is the United Kingdom's air and space force.
