Wiley Sparkman
Wiley Sparkman (January 5, 1906 – February 23, 1995) was an American politician. A native of Springdale, Arkansas, born in 1906, Sparkman moved to Grove, Oklahoma, at the age of twelve. He was first elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives from Delaware County in 1952. After a single term, Sparkman was succeeded by Carl Thomas Mustain Carl Thomas Mustain (1911 – June 8, 1996) was an American educator and politician. Mustain, a school superintendent, served a single term in the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1955. He was preceded and succeeded in office by Wiley Sparkma .... Sparkman returned to office in 1957, and served until his April 1982 resignation. In 1965, Sparkman's constituency expanded to cover a portion of Adair County, and was enumerated district 5. The Oklahoma House of Representatives is the lower house of the legislature of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Its members introduce and vote on bills and resolutions, provide legislative oversight for state agencies, and help to craft the state's budget. Delaware County, Oklahoma
Delaware County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of the 2010 census, the population was 41,487. Its county seat is Jay. The county was named for the Delaware Indians, who had established a village in the area prior to the Cherokees being assigned to relocate to Indian Territory in the 1830s. Delaware County was created in 1907. Prior to becoming Delaware County, a large portion of the area was known as the Delaware District of the Cherokee Nation. Today, Delaware County continues to be recognized by the Cherokee Nation as the Delaware District. History Archaeological studies have shown that at least three different periods of prehistoric people had lived in the area covered by Delaware County.
