Wild Rose (soundtrack)
''Wild Rose'' is the soundtrack to the 2018 British film of the same name, released by Island Records on 12 April 2019. The album features both original songs written exclusively for the film and covers of songs by established country artists such as Emmylou Harris, Wynonna Judd, Chris Stapleton, Hank Snow, and folk artists John Prine and Patty Griffin, as well as indie rock band Primal Scream. All songs are performed by singer Jessie Buckley, with the exception of tracks 17, 18, and 19 (which are performed by The Bluegrass Smugglers), and track 20 (which is performed by Hillary Klug). The album charted at No. 76 on the UK Albums Chart and at No. 1 on the UK Country Albums Chart. Singles " Country Girl" was released as the soundtrack's lead single on 22 February 2019. Jessie Buckley
Jessie Buckley (born 28 December 1989) is an Irish actress and singer. The recipient of a Laurence Olivier Award, in addition to nominations for an Academy Award and three BAFTA Awards, she was listed at number 38 on ''The Irish Times'' list of Ireland's greatest film actors of all time, in 2020. "I'm Moving On" is a 1950 country standard written by Hank Snow. It is Snow's most recorded song. Recording and lyrics According to Snow, he proposed the song for his first session for RCA Records in 1949, but recording director Stephen H. Sholes turned it down. Paul Kennerley (born 1948) is an English singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer working in the American contemporary country music industry. Biography Paul Kennerley was born in Hoylake, Cheshire (now Merseyside), England in 1948. In 1976, he was living in London and working in advertising when he first heard country music — particularly, the song "Let's All Help the Cowboys Sing the Blues" by Waylon Jennings. "It really excited me," Kennerley recalls in his artist biography for Universal Music Group. "I immediately hunted down every Waylon record I could find." Jerry Salley is an American country and bluegrass singer-songwriter. Salley won SESAC's 2003 "Country Music Songwriter of the Year" award. Salley has been writing and singing in Nashville, Tennessee since 1982. To date, he has had 300 songs recorded in his career, including by Reba McEntire (" I'm Gonna Take That Mountain"), Wild Rose (" Breaking New Ground"), John Anderson (" I Fell in the Water"), Wade Hayes (" How Do You Sleep at Night"), and ten (10) top twenty gospel songs. Ronnie Bowman
Ronnie Bowman (born July 9, 1961) is an American singer and composer of bluegrass music. Besides his solo albums, he is known for his work with the Lonesome River Band. Biography Early years A native of Mount Airy, North Carolina, Bowman sang gospel music from age three until his late-teens. He sang in his family band with his four sisters, playing churches in North Carolina and Virginia. Bowman joined bluegrass band The Lost and Found in 1988 and performed with them for two years. Gary "Mani" Mounfield (born 16 November 1962Warshaw, AaronMani allmusic.com) is an English rock bassist, best known for being a member of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream. Career Mounfield attended Xaverian College in Rusholme, Manchester. He developed an interest in darts, a sport he went on to champion throughout his career. He left school aged sixteen in 1979 and joined the band the Stone Roses (part of the "Madchester" music scene) in 1987. Playing on both of the band's albums, Mounfield was in the Stone Roses until they disbanded in 1996, shortly after the birth of his son, Joseph, also a keen bassist. Mounfield used a Rickenbacker 4005 Jackson Pollock-influenced paint-splattered bass guitar in the period after the Stone Roses debut album. He joined Primal Scream after Stone Roses disbanded.
