Wild, Wild World Of Animals
''Wild, Wild World of Animals'' is a syndicated American television show that features wildlife and nature documentaries. It was originally produced from 1973 until 1978, and was narrated by William Conrad. The soundtrack was composed by Gerhard Trede and Beatrice Witkin. Produced by Time-Life Television, the series features documentaries produced by various production companies worldwide, including the BBC. Reruns were later aired by the USA Network and Australia's ABC during the 1980s. A series of hardbound books published by Time-Life was also published during this period to accompany the series. William Conrad
William Conrad (born John William Cann Jr., September 27, 1920 – February 11, 1994) was an American actor, producer, and director whose entertainment career spanned five decades in radio, film, and television, peaking in popularity when he starred in the detective series ''Cannon''. A radio writer and actor, he moved to Hollywood after serving in World War II as a fighter pilot, and played a series of character roles in films, beginning with the film noir ''The Killers'' (1946). He created the role of Marshal Matt Dillon for the radio series ''Gunsmoke'' (1952–1961) and narrated the television adventures of ''Rocky and Bullwinkle'' (1959–1964) and '' The Fugitive'' (1963–1967). The Blu-ray Disc (BD), often known simply as Blu-ray, is a digital optical disc data storage format. It was invented and developed in 2005 and released on June 20, 2006 worldwide. It is designed to supersede the DVD format, and capable of storing several hours of high-definition video (HDTV 720p and 1080p). The main application of Blu-ray is as a medium for video material such as feature films and for the physical distribution of video games for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The name "Blu-ray" refers to the blue laser (which is actually a violet laser) used to read the disc, which allows information to be stored at a greater density than is possible with the longer-wavelength red laser used for DVDs. Time Life Television was a division of Time Life Films and was the television production and distribution arm of Time Inc. With CBS, they led a partnership to export their shows overseas. Broadcasting Time Life also owned several radio and TV stations in the United States beginning in the 1950s through to 1983. By 1970, Time decided to sell its broadcasting operations and to concentrate in cable development. Time-Life's television stations were sold to McGraw-Hill in early 1972 following FCC approval. Beatrice Witkin
Beatrice Braverman Witkin (May 13, 1916 – February 7, 1990) was an American composer and pianist who was best known for her electronic music, especially the theme she composed for the TV show '' Wild, Wild World of Animals'' in 1973. Witkin studied piano with Eduard Steuermann and composition with Roger Sessions, Mark Brunswick and Stefan Wolpe. She received a B.A. from Hunter College and a master's degree from New York University. She married Louis Witkin in 1938 and they had one daughter (Judy) and one son (Steve). Witkin received grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Hebrew Arts Music School. She released two LPs of chamber music, and received the Creative Arts Public Service Grant and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) Standard Award.
