Wilcox County is a county of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, the population was 10,600. Its county seat is Camden. History Wilcox County was established on December 13, 1819. The county was named after Joseph M. Wilcox, a US Army lieutenant who was killed in Alabama during the Creek War. State Route 221 (SR 221) is a route that serves as a western bypass of Camden in Wilcox County. Route description The southern terminus of SR 221 is located at its intersection with SR 41 to the southwest of Camden. From this point, the route travels in a northward direction on a two-lane undivided road, passing through a mix of farms and woods. State Route 89 (Alabama)
State Route 89 (SR 89) is a state highway in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Alabama. The southern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with SR 21 near Snow Hill, an unincorporated community in Wilcox County approximately east of Camden. The northern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with SR 41 approximately south of Selma in southern Dallas County. Route description SR 89 travels through the heart of Alabama's Black Belt, recognized as one of the poorer areas of the state.
