Wigrid is an underground black metal project that was founded by Ulfhednir in 1998. The name is taken from the field Vígríðr, where the battle of Ragnarok will be fought according to the Norse mythos. History Early years (1998–2004) Wigrid was founded in 1998 by Ulfhednir as a one-man project in Saarbrücken, Germany. After the band was created, the first demo, "Die Totgeburt Jesu Christi", was released. This demo contained five songs and was never officially published. In the early months of 1999, the second Wigrid demo, "Ort Der Einsamkeit", was recorded. About a year later, the demo "Hoffnungstod" was completed. It was then officially released on CD and LP in 2002. Recent Years (2005-present) In 2005 Wigrid released its second full-length album titled "Die Asche eines Lebens", before going on a lengthy hiatus during which Ulfhednir was active in a variety of other bands and projects. Vígríðr
In Norse mythology, Vígríðr or Óskópnir is a large field foretold to host a battle between the forces of the gods and the forces of Surtr as part of the events of Ragnarök. The field is attested in the ''Poetic Edda'', compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional material, and in the ''Prose Edda'', written by Snorri Sturluson in the 13th century. The ''Poetic Edda'' briefly mentions the field as where the two forces will battle, whereas the ''Prose Edda'' features a fuller account, foretelling that it is the location of the future death of several deities (and their enemies) before the world is engulfed in flames and reborn. No Colours Records
No Colours Records is a German mail order and record label from Mügeln specialised in black metal. Background No Colours Records mostly releases black metal records, but has also released records related to other extreme metal genres such as thrash and death metal. Most releases appear both on CDs and as limited vinyl editions. Furthermore, the label sells merchandising articles such as T-shirts and embroidered patches. The label's most well-known bands are Inquisition, Graveland and Nargaroth. No Colours has also released many of Rob Darken's side projects such as Lord Wind and Infernum. Besides neo-nazi bands such as Thor's Hammer from Poland, the label has also signed many apolitical bands like Wigrid and Suicidal Winds, so some are against an association to the far-right. Graveland
Graveland are a Polish pagan black metal band which was formed in 1991 by Rob Darken (born Robert Fudali). They began as a black metal band before adopting a pagan and Viking metal style. The lyrics and imagery of Graveland are strongly inspired by European mythology, nature, winter and war. Their early work focused on Celtic and Slavic mythology, while their later work focuses on Norse mythology and Wotanism. History Beginning Darken, who started Graveland as a solo project in 1991, was influenced by bands such as Bathory and Emperor. He recorded the first demos, ''Necromanteion'' and ''Drunemeton'', working alone.
