''Wiggle'' is the fifth studio album by the Chicago-based punk rock band Screeching Weasel. Initially planned for release in November 1992,Screeching Weasel - ''How to Make Enemies and Irritate People'' liner notes. Retrieved 2016-07-03 the album was finally released on CD, vinyl and cassette on January 15, 1993 through Lookout Records. Due to a "cymbal hissing" in the original vinyl version, the album was remixed and re-released soon afterwards. Screeching Weasel
Screeching Weasel is an American punk rock band consisting of Ben Weasel (vocals), Mike Kennerty (guitar), Mike Hunchback (guitar), Zach "Poutine" Brandner (bass) and Pierre Marche (drums). Screeching Weasel is originally from the Chicago suburb of Prospect Heights, Illinois. The band was formed in 1986 by Ben Weasel and John Jughead. Since their formation, Screeching Weasel have reformed several times with lineup changes. Ben Weasel has been the only constant member, though Jughead was present in every incarnation of the band until 2009. Other prominent members include guitarist/bassist Dan Vapid and drummer Dan Panic, who have each appeared on six of the band's studio albums, and Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt who appeared on one. Ben Weasel
Benjamin Foster (born 1968), also known as Ben Weasel, is an American musician, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the punk rock band Screeching Weasel. Early life Foster was born in 1968, and was raised in Prospect Heights, Illinois. He attended River Trails Middle School in Mount Prospect, Illinois where he first met future Screeching Weasel co-founder John Pierson. Weasel was expelled from John Hersey High School and St. Viator High School. He was eventually sent to the Élan School in Poland, Maine for his behavior issues. Music career Screeching Weasel When Foster returned to Illinois from the Élan School, he got a job at a local movie theater, and formed the band Screeching Weasel with co-worker and former junior high classmate John Pierson, aka Jughead. Aaron Elliott (born May 20, 1968), better known as Aaron Cometbus, is an American musician, songwriter, roadie, and magazine editor, best known as the creator of the punk zine ''Cometbus''. Career Born in Berkeley, California, Cometbus started writing fanzines in 1981 with Jesse Michaels (later of Operation Ivy and Common Rider) and started his own after Michaels moved to Pennsylvania in October 1981. He became an active participant in the Gilman Street Project and was a founding member of Crimpshrine, a highly influential East Bay punk rock band which also featured Jeff Ott. Teenage Head (band)
Teenage Head is a Canadian punk rock group from Hamilton, Ontario, that was popular in Canada during the early 1980s. The group was formed in Hamilton, Ontario in 1975, by Frankie Venom (Frank Kerr), Gord Lewis, Steve Mahon, and Nick Stipanitz. Venom died on October 15, 2008. Lewis died August 7, 2022. The band's name is a reference to The Flaming Groovies' 1971 album '' Teenage Head'', which Gord Lewis had seen advertised in a music magazine but not heard, and decided that he, one day, would form a band with that name. History Teenage Head was formed in 1975 when the band members were students at Westdale High School in Hamilton. The original lineup featured Gord Lewis on guitar, Steve Park on guitar, Frankie Venom on drums and Dave Desroches on vocals. ''Love Songs for the Retarded'' is the second studio album by the American punk rock band the Queers, released in 1993 by Lookout! Records. It was the first of five studio albums the band would record for Lookout!, and their first by the lineup of singer and guitarist "Joe Queer" King, bassist Chris "B-Face" Barnard, and drummer Hugh O'Neill. It was also their first collaboration with Screeching Weasel frontman Ben Weasel, who produced the album and co-wrote two of its songs (he would also produce the band's next two studio efforts, and co-wrote a number of songs with King which were used on later Queers and Screeching Weasel records), and the first of three Queers albums recorded at Sonic Iguana Studio in Lafayette, Indiana with audio engineer Mass Giorgini, who would continue to work with the band on and off for the next 14 years as a producer and engineer. The Queers
The Queers are an American punk rock band, formed in 1981 by the Portsmouth, New Hampshire native Joseph “Joe” P. King (a.k.a. Joe Queer) along with Scott Gildersleeve (a.k.a. Tulu), and John “Jack” Hayes (a.k.a. Wimpy Rutherford). With the addition of Keith Hages (ex-guitarist of Berlin Brats) joining on bass in 1983 the band started playing their first public performances. This original lineup played a total of 5-6 live shows. The original lineup of The Queers initially broke up in late 1984, but reformed with Joe Queer and a new line-up in 1986. Radio Blast
"Radio Blast" is a song by Chicago-based pop punk band Screeching Weasel. The band lineup for this single is the same as on their 1993 album, '' Wiggle''. 2000 copies were initially pressed on Underdog Records. A later repress came out on burgundy colored vinyl and had a sticker on the sleeve that proclaimed it "not part of the limited edition". Both pressings are now out of print, but the two songs from this release can be found on the B-sides and rarities collection, ''Kill the Musicians''. The A-side is a vicious attack on the state of rock radio. Side B is the sad story of a girl who cannot find love and ends up committing suicide. The Pink Lincolns are a punk rock band formed in Tampa, Florida in 1986 by vocalist Chris Barrows and guitarist Dorsey Martin. The rest of the lineup has frequently changed and currently includes bassist Kevin Coss and drummer Jeff Fox. The band has released five studio albums, one live album and six EP's as well as splits with Screeching Weasel and The Queers. Naked Raygun
Naked Raygun was one of the first, one of the longest running, and one of the most recognized Chicago punk bands. They are considered by many to be the most important band in the history of Chicago punk rock and credited with creating “the Chicago Sound.” Raygun was active (in various lineups) from 1980 to 1992, along with reunion shows in 1997. Steve Albini (pronounced ; born July 22, 1962) is an American musician, record producer, audio engineer and music journalist. He was a member of Big Black, Rapeman and Flour, and is a member of Shellac. He is the founder, owner and principal engineer of Electrical Audio, a recording studio complex in Chicago. John Pierson (musician)
John Pierson, known also by the stage name Jughead and by the pseudonym Ian Pierce, is an American musician, writer, actor, and podcaster. Biography In 1986, Pierson and Ben Weasel co-founded the punk rock band Screeching Weasel in Chicago, Illinois. Pierson played guitar for the band until 2006. In 2002, Pierson formed the acoustic pop-punk band Even in Blackouts, with which he has recorded four albums and one EP and toured several times. Pierson is also a playwright and novelist, usually writing under the name Ian Pierce. He formed a theater production company, Hope And Nonthings, in 1990 and produced ten plays before joining the Neo-Futurists; he has been performing in their long-running show ''Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind'' since 1996.
