Ernst Wichert
Ernst Alexander August George Wichert (11 March 1831 – 21 January 1902) was a German lawyer, judge, and author. Biography Wichert was born in Insterburg, Prussia, (today Chernyakhovsk, Russia) and attended schools in Pillau and Königsberg. He studied law at the University of Königsberg and worked as an assessor in Memel. In 1860 Wichert became a district judge in Prökuls (today Priekulė, Lithuania). In 1863 he returned to Königsberg as a judge of the local court and became an ''Oberlandesgerichtsrat'' in 1877 (sometimes also 1879 is reported). In 1888 Wichert moved to Berlin, where he became ''Kammergerichtsrat'' at the Berlin ''Kammergericht''. He retired in 1896 and died in 1902. While performing his duties as a judge, in his spare time Wichert wrote and published 34 stage plays, 28 novels and 15 multi-volume novellas. Fritz Wichert
Friedrich Karl Adolf Wichert (born 22 August 1878 in Mainz-Kastel; died 24 January 1951 in Kampen (Sylt)) was a German art historian. He was director of the Kunsthalle Mannheim and the Frankfurt Städelschule and also participated in New Frankfurt. Career Wichert, who completed his doctorate in 1907 in Freiburg, became first director of the Kunsthalle Mannheim as early as 1909, where he expanded the collection to include paintings from the 19th century with a focus on French Modernism. One of the most important acquisitions for the museum was Édouard Manet‘s ''The Execution of Emperor Maximilian''. During the First World War, Wichert belonged to the diplomatic service. After the war, he returned to the Mannheim Kunsthalle and put the collection focus on the Expressionists. Sabine Wichert (8 June 1942 – 8 September 2014), was a German born poet and historian who lived in Northern Ireland Biography Born Sabine Wichert on 8 June 1942 in Graudenz, West Prussia which is now Grudziadz, Poland, Wichert was educated in West Germany. She studied at the University of Frankfurt, the Free University of Berlin and the University of Mannheim. She also studied at the London school of Economics and Oxford University in Britain. She first came to Belfast as a tourist. She worked at Queen's University, Belfast from 1971 teaching history but with an interest in the visual arts. She wrote poetry about her adopted homeland and edited the work of historian ATQ Stewart. She retired in 2007. She died of lung cancer in Belfast on 8 September 2014. Wichert was cremated at Roselawn and was returned to Germany by her brothers Peter and Christian.
