''Wiadomości'' (''News'', ) is the chief Polish news program produced by Telewizja Polska and broadcast on the first channel, TVP1. The main edition is transmitted daily at 7:30p.m. CET. It premiered on 18 November 1989 and succeeded the '' Dziennik Telewizyjny'' (Television Journal), which was aired during the communist era for over 31 years. In September 2020, ''Wiadomości'' was the most popular news program in Poland, with an average of 2.66 million viewers a day. Since 14 September 2016, the acting editor-in-chief is Jarosław Olechowski. Since the first telecast, a letter W composed of two V letters serves as the program's official logo. History ''Wiadomości'' replaced the infamous '' Dziennik Telewizyjny'' ( en, Television Journal), a newscast that was a symbol of communist propaganda in the Polish People's Republic during the Cold War. ''Panorama'' is the main news program on TVP2. The main edition is broadcast at 18:00 every day. This program was created in 1987 as Panorama Dnia, during Poland's communist rule. The Guardian
''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959. Along with its sister papers ''The Observer'' and ''The Guardian Weekly'', ''The Guardian'' is part of the Guardian Media Group, owned by the Scott Trust. Timothy Garton Ash
Timothy Garton Ash CMG FRSA (born 12 July 1955) is a British historian, author and commentator. He is Professor of European Studies at Oxford University. Most of his work has been concerned with the contemporary history of Europe, with a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe. He has written about the former Communist regimes of that region, their experience with the secret police, the Revolutions of 1989 and the transformation of the former Eastern Bloc states into member states of the European Union. He has also examined the role of Europe in the world and the challenge of combining political freedom and diversity, especially in relation to free speech.
