Why Don't You
''Why Don't You?'' was a BBC children's television series broadcast in 42 series between 20 August 1973 and 21 April 1995. It was originally broadcast in the morning during the school summer holidays and once was shown during the weekday evening children's TV slot around 4:45 to 5:45. Later it went out during the Easter and Christmas school holidays although it was also broadcast once on Saturday mornings. The format consisted of groups or "gangs" of children responding to letters from viewers who wrote into the show suggesting games, 'makes' and days out. Typically these were arts-and-crafts activities or games and magic tricks children could learn to impress their friends. Created by producer/director Patrick Dowling at the BBC's Bristol studios, Russell T Davies was later at one time a producer and director for ''Why Don't You...?'' before going on to greater fame as writer of '' Queer as Folk'' and producer of the 2005 revival of '' Doctor Who''. Roger Greenaway
Roger John Reginald Greenaway, (born 23 August 1938) is an English singer, songwriter and record producer, best known for his collaborations with Roger Cook. His compositions have included "You've Got Your Troubles" and the transatlantic million selling songs "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (in Perfect Harmony)" and "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress". They were the first UK songwriting partnership to be granted an Ivor Novello Award as 'Songwriters of the Year' in two successive years. In 2009, Greenaway was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Life and career Roger Greenaway was born in Fishponds, Bristol, England. Wise Up (TV Series)
''Wise Up'' was a British factual children's television programme broadcast for nine series on Sunday mornings between 1995 and 2000 on Channel 4 (UK) and T4. It was produced by Carlton Productions, and was directed by Martin Wallace. As well as reports, there were also regular features such as a feature called ''Knowing Me, Knowing You''. It was similar to a BBC programme called ''Ipso Facto''. In December 1999 there was an hour-long special called ''Wise Up: Teenagers on the Line'' in which a 15-year-old girl travelled from London to Paris and Bamako, Mali to explore teenage life in different countries each on the Greenwich Meridian Line. Production The programme led to the formation of Wised Up Productions involving Mick Robertson and Simon Morris. Morris did not contribute to ''Wise Up'', though he did contribute to the catalogue of programmes produced by Wised Up Productions. Pauline Perpetua Sheen ( Quirke; born 8 July 1959) is an English actress who has played Sharon Theodopolopodous in the long-running comedy series '' Birds of a Feather'' (1988–1999, 2014–2017). Daniel Evans (actor)
Daniel Gwyn Evans (born 31 July 1973) is a Welsh actor and director. Background Evans was born in the Rhondda Valley in Wales. Evans started acting early in life, going to the Urdd Eisteddfod, and beginning to compete there from the age of five or six, as well as going to many amateur productions. He realised it was what he wanted to do aged 8, and aged 17, he won the Richard Burton Memorial Prize at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. A year later, he won the Chair at the Urdd Eisteddfod. He attended Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen near Pontypridd, a Welsh-language secondary school which has nurtured many actors. Andy Crane
Howard Andrew Crane (born 24 February 1964) is an English television and radio presenter, best known for presenting Children's BBC between 1987 and 1990 and for his current work as a presenter on the Greatest Hits Radio network. Career Crane started his career in radio before applying for Children's BBC in 1986, making his debut late that year before taking over as sole presenter from Phillip Schofield. In this role he presented the interstitial sections of the schedule through the use of in-vision continuity. Presenting from the continuity announcer's booth, nicknamed 'The Broom Cupboard', Crane presented links until leaving in 1990, to be replaced by Andi Peters.
