"Why Don't They Let Us Fall in Love" is a song written by Phil Spector, Ellie Greenwich, and Jeff Barry. It was first recorded by American singer Ronnie Spector, who was credited as Veronica. In 1964, it was released as an A-sided single backed with "Chubby Danny D". It did not chart. The song was originally intended for the Ronettes, and was recorded at Gold Star Studios in March 1963, but Spector withheld its release for the reason that he did not feel it to be a number-one record. Instead, "Be My Baby" was issued. "Why Don't They Let Us Fall in Love" was not placed on an LP until ''Phil Spector Wall of Sound Vol. 6 – Rare Masters Vol. 1'', a rarities compilation issued in the UK in 1976. In 1965, the New Orleans pop girl group the Dixie Cups released the single "Gee the Moon Is Shining Bright", an alternate version of the song with slightly reworked lyrics. Ronnie Spector
Veronica Yvette Greenfield (; August 10, 1943 – January 12, 2022) was an American singer who co-founded and fronted the girl group The Ronettes. She is sometimes referred to as the original "bad girl of rock and roll". Ronnie formed the singing group with her older sister, Estelle Bennett, and their cousin, Nedra Talley in the late 1950s. They were signed to Phil Spector's Philles label in 1963 and he produced the majority of their recording output. The Ronettes had a string of hits in the 1960s, including "Be My Baby" (1963), "Baby, I Love You" (1963), "(The Best Part of) Breakin' Up" (1964), "Do I Love You?" (1964), and "Walking in the Rain (The Ronettes song), Walking in the Rain" (1964). Ronnie married Phil in 1968. ''Look at Us'' is the debut album by American pop duo Sonny & Cher, released in 1965 by Atco Records. The album reached number two on the ''Billboard'' 200 and was certified gold. ''Made in California (1962–2012)'' is a compilation box set by the Beach Boys, released on August 27, 2013. The set, released through Capitol Records, was designed by Mark London in a form emulating a high school yearbook. The set contains six CDs with tracks that span the band's entire career, including outtakes, demos, B-sides, rarities, alternate takes and versions, plus over 60 previously unreleased. It supersedes the theretofore career-spanning 1993 box set '' Good Vibrations: Thirty Years of The Beach Boys'', which followed a similar premise. Background Originally announced for a 2012 release, alongside the two-disc compilation album ''Fifty Big Ones'', the box set was ultimately delayed. In Spring 2013 an August 27 release date was confirmed, and on June 11, the artwork and track list was revealed.
