Whodunnit (play)
''Whodunnit?'' is a play written by Anthony Shaffer (writer), Anthony Shaffer in 1977, originally called ''The Case of the Oily Levantine''. Plot summary ''Whodunnit?'' is a comedy / mystery fiction, mystery play. The first act follows the traditional conventions of a country house mystery with an assortment of suspects, but in the second act it becomes apparent that nobody is truly what they seem. Act 1 A collection of character (arts), characters apparently drawn directly from old English detective fiction arrive for a party in an old country house. Among them there is an old Navy man, a ditzy woman, and a flamboyantly eccentricity (behavior), eccentric butler who keeps trying to serve up his own cocktail creation, the "Zombie Whammy". Anthony Shaffer (writer)
Anthony Joshua Shaffer (15 May 19266 November 2001) was an English playwright, screenwriter, novelist, barrister, and advertising executive. Early life Shaffer was born to a Jewish family in Liverpool, the son of Reka (née Fredman) and Jack Shaffer, who was an estate agent with his wife's family. He was the identical twin brother of writer and dramatist Peter Shaffer, and they had another brother, Brian. He graduated with a law degree from Trinity College, Cambridge. Career Shaffer worked as a barrister and advertising copywriter before becoming a full-time writer. Shaffer's most notable work was the play ''Sleuth (play), Sleuth'' (1970), which won the Tony Award for Best Play. The play was later adapted for the Sleuth (1972 film), film version starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine. Bernard Joseph Archard (20 August 1916 – 1 May 2008) was an English actor who made many film and television appearances. Early life and career Archard was born in Fulham, London, where his father Alfred James Aloysius who was born in Marylebone was a jeweller. Bernard's paternal grandfather Alfred Charles Archard and great grandfather Henry Archard were clockmakers, watchmakers and jewellers in Mayfair, London during the 1800s. Roger Leach (actor)
Roger Leach (22 April 1948 – 1 December 2001) was an English-Australian actor who played Sgt. Tom Penny in ''The Bill'', and guest starred in '' Bergerac'', ''Perfect Scoundrels'' and ''Doctors''. Early life Roger was born in Sydney, Australia and read English at Sydney University where he also participated in rowing and other athletics. He won a scholarship to the Central School of Speech and Drama and moved to the UK in 1971. He had many acting roles, including 42 appearances at the Salisbury Playhouse. William Squire
William Squire (29 April 1917 – 3 May 1989) was a Welsh actor of stage, film and television. Squire was born in Neath, Glamorgan, the son of William Squire and his wife Martha (née Bridgeman). Career As a stage actor, Squire performed at Stratford-upon-Avon and at the Old Vic, and notably replaced his fellow-countryman Richard Burton as King Arthur in ''Camelot'' at the Majestic Theatre on Broadway. Wolfe Morris (born Woolf Steinberg, 5 January 1925 – 21 July 1996) was an English actor, who played character roles on stage, television and in feature films from the 1950s until the 1990s. Hayden Griffin (23 January 1943 – 24 March 2013) was a stage designer, known for his work for the Royal Court Theatre and the Royal National Theatre in London.
