"Who Got da Props?", (titled on the single as "Who Got the Props") is a song written by American rapper Buckshot and record producer Evil Dee, performed by East Coast hip hop group Black Moon. It was recorded in 1992 and produced by Evil Dee. Pre-production took place at the Dewgarde Crib of Hits with following recording sessions at D&D Studios in New York. It was released on October 22, 1992 through Nervous Records as the lead single from the group's debut studio album ''Enta da Stage'', marking the debut on hip hop scene by both the artists and the label. Accompanying music video was directed by Ralph McDaniels. Black Moon (group)
Black Moon (backronymed as Brothers Lyrically Acting Combining Kicking Music Out On Nations) is an American underground hip hop group from Brooklyn, New York City. Formed in the early '90s by rappers Buckshot, 5ft and record producer DJ Evil Dee, they debuted in 1992 with the release of the single " Who Got the Props?". The group was most notable for their debut album ''Enta da Stage'', and their affiliation with the Boot Camp Clik. As of 2019, the group has released four studio albums. Biography Early years The roots of Black Moon go back to Brooklyn's Bushwick High School, where Kasim "5ft" Reid and Ewart "DJ Evil Dee" Dewgrade met and formed a group called Unique Image. The two later met a former backup dancer Kenyatte "Buckshot" Blake in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, and formed a friendship based on similar musical aspirations. The twelve-inch single (often written as 12-inch or 12″) is a type of vinyl ( polyvinyl chloride or PVC) gramophone record that has wider groove spacing and shorter playing time with a 'single' or a few related sound tracks on each surface, compared to LPs (long play) which have several songs on each side. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015.
