Whizzer And Chips
''Whizzer and Chips'' was a British comics magazine that ran from 18 October 1969 to 27 October 1990, when it merged with the comic '' Buster''. As with most comics of the time, ''Whizzer and Chips'' was dated one week ahead of the day it actually appeared on newsstands in Great Britain. It had no relation to the earlier British comic ''Illustrated Chips'' (which ran from 1890 to 1953). The format of ''Whizzer and Chips'' presented the comic as being divided into two separate parts — a novel idea at the time. One part was called ''Whizzer'' and the other was called ''Chips'', with ''Chips'' existing as a separate pull-out section in the middle. The slogan "Two comics in one, double the fun!" was used. ''Joker'' was a British comic strip. It first appeared in ''Knockout'' issue 1 (series 2) on 12 June 1971. ''Knockout'' merged with ''Whizzer and Chips'' in 1973. ''Smash!'' was a weekly British comics, British comic book, published initially by Odhams Press and subsequently by IPC Magazines, from 5 February 1966 to 3 April 1971. After 257 issues it merged into ''Valiant (comics), Valiant''. During 1967 and 1968 ''Smash!'' was part of Odhams' Power Comics line, notable for its publication of American superhero strips. During this period, alongside British humour strips, ''Smash!'' included black-and-white superhero reprints originally published in the US by Marvel Comics and DC Comics. In late 1968, ''Smash!'' absorbed its sister titles ''Pow! (comics), Pow!'' and ''Fantastic (comics), Fantastic'', thereby becoming the last surviving Power Comics title. Shiner was a British comic strip drawn by Mike Lacey. It was published in the magazine ''Whizzer and Chips'', where the character first appeared in the second issue in 1969. ''Whizzer and Chips'' characters were divided into "Whizz-kids" and "Chip-ites", reflecting respectively the two sections of the comic. Shiner was the leader of the "Chip-ites". Mike Higgs
Mike Higgs is a British comic book artist, writer, designer, and editor. He is the creator of the oddball humor strip ''The Cloak'' and the daily comic strip ''Moonbird''. In July 1964, Higgs created a pastiche of The Shadow called "The Shudder" for a British fanzine (of the same name). In 1967, he revived the character, now called "The Cloak," as a strip for the British weekly comic '' Pow!'', and then '' Smash!'' (running until 1969). The Cloak was the top agent for Britain's Special Squad, nominally a part of Scotland Yard; but he usually operated from his personal headquarters, known as the Secret Sanctum. The Cloak's ingenuity and never-ending supply of gadgets and secret weapons gave him the edge over his somewhat odd enemies (some were ''very'' odd, including Deathshead and various other agents of G.H.O.U.L.). Memory Banks (comic Strip)
Memory Banks was the name given to a comic cartoon strip created by Mark Bennington, which appeared in ''Whizzer and Chips'' and then went on to appear in '' Buster''. The cartoon strip was about a boy called Bernie Banks, who had a very bad memory. The name of the strip was an ironic and sarcastic take on this. Despite several tricks tried by himself and other people, he would always fail to remember something important which is what provided the main plot of each strip. Lazy Bones
''Lazy Bones'' was originally a comic strip in the British comic ''Whizzer and Chips''. It made its first appearance in 1978. The strip was about a boy called Benny Bones, who would constantly fall asleep everywhere, much to the annoyance of his parents. Until 1986, the strip was drawn by Colin Whittock, and moved to '' Buster'' in 1990 after ''Whizzer and Chips'' ended. Here it stayed, surviving on reprints, until the final issue. Artist Jack Edward Oliver included Benny in the last page of that issue, revealing how all the characters in the comic came to an end. Happy Families is a traditional British card game usually with a specially made set of picture cards, featuring illustrations of fictional families of four, most often based on occupation types. The object of the game is to collect complete families, and the game is similar to Go Fish and Quartets. In Germany and Austria, the game is known as Quartett or Ablegspiel (in Upper Austria and Styria) and is not restricted to sets of four people, but covers other topics such as farm animals or tractors. The game can also be adapted for use with an ordinary set of playing cards. A doodle is a drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be composed of random and abstract lines or shapes, generally without ever lifting the drawing device from the paper, in which case it is usually called a scribble.
