''Whitney Dancin' Special ''is the first extended play/remix album by American singer Whitney Houston and was released exclusively in Japan on November 1, 1986 by Arista Records. It was manufactured and distributed by Nippon Phonogram during its original release, and by BMG Victor during its re-issue. It includes 5 remixed and 1 instrumental versions of songs from her self-titled debut album. The album peaked at number 14 in the Japanese charts and sold 19,480 copies there. It was later released on US for the first time as part of Houston's 35th anniversary edition of her debut album. The box set included an alternate version of “You Give Good Love (Extended Dance Version)” with previously unreleased vocalizations. The version was later added as a seventh track to the digital version of the remix album. La Forrest 'La La' Cope is an American singer and songwriter. She is best known for writing the hit song "You Give Good Love", recorded by Whitney Houston for her 1985 self-titled debut album, which went on to sell over 25 million units worldwide. Biography La La was raised in the East Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens, New York City, United States. She took up the piano at the age of five and gave a piano recital at Carnegie Hall at the age of nine. After leaving New York's High School of Music and Art, she formed a band called Jack Sass, which played top 40 cover versions on the club scene. As the group's reputation grew, La La began introducing more of her own songs into the repertoire before she went to Juilliard to major in composition. George Merrill (born 10 January 1956) is an American songwriter whose work mostly dates from the mid- to late 1980s. He co-wrote "How Will I Know", which was a hit for Whitney Houston in 1986, as well as Houston's 1987 hit " I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)". From the mid- to late 1980s to the present day, Merrill has been one half of vocal duo Boy Meets Girl, who are best remembered for the late-1988 hit " Waiting for a Star to Fall". He wrote the song and had initially offered it to Houston and Belinda Carlisle, but they both rejected it (though Carlisle did do a demo recording) and Merrill decided to sing it himself and feature it on the next Boy Meets Girl album. The Oricon Albums Chart is the Japanese music industry standard albums popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Oricon originally published LP, CT, Cartridge and CD charts prior to the establishment of the Oricon Albums Chart on October 5, 1987. The Oricon Albums Chart's rankings are based on physical albums' sales. Oricon did not include download sales until its establishment of the Digital Albums Chart on November 19, 2016.
