Herbert Whitfeld
Herbert Whitfeld (15 November 1858 – 6 May 1909) was an English amateur sportsman who played association football and county cricket. In football, he helped Old Etonians win the 1879 FA Cup Final and was on the losing side in 1881 as well as making one appearance for England in 1879. In cricket, he played for Sussex County Cricket Club whom he captained in 1883 and 1884. He was later a director of Barclays Bank. Early career and education Whitfeld was born in Hamsey, near Lewes in East Sussex and was educated at Eton where he developed an interest in all forms of sport and played for the college football team in 1877. He was also a member of the college cricket eleven from 1875 to 1877, being captain in his last year. He went up to Trinity College, Cambridge in 1877 and earned blues in cricket in every year between 1878 and 1881 and in football in 1879, 1880 and 1881. Francis Whitfeld
Francis Barry Whitfeld (23 May 1852 – 8 January 1924) was an English cricketer. Whitfeld's batting and bowling styles are unknown. He was born at Hamsey, Sussex. Whitfeld made a single first-class appearance for Sussex against the touring Australians at the County Ground, Hove, in 1878. In this match, Whitfeld was dismissed for a single run in Sussex's first-innings by Frederick Spofforth, while in their second-innings he was dismissed for a duck by the same bowler. He later made a second first-class appearance, this time for GN Wyatt's XI against the Australians at the United Services Recreation Ground, Portsmouth in 1886. Whitfeld scored 5 runs in the team's first-innings, before once again falling to the bowling of Spofforth, while in their second-innings he made a single run, before being dismissed by Eugene Palmer. George Whitfeld
George Sulivan Whitfeld (20 March 1878 – 29 July 1945) was an English cricketer. Whitfeld's batting and bowling styles are unknown. He was born at Hamsey, Sussex. Whitfeld made his first-class debut for Sussex against Nottinghamshire in the 1908 County Championship. He made two further first-class appearances in that season, against Kent and Surrey. In his three first-class appearances, he scored 191 runs at an average of 63.66, with a high score of 71 not out. This score was his only half century and came against Surrey. He died at Earls Court, London, on 29 July 1945. His father, Francis, played first-class cricket. His uncle, Herbert, also played first-class cricket for Sussex, as well as being a two-time FA Cup winner with the Old Etonians.
