Whitechurch GAA
Whitechurch GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Whitechurch, County Cork, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History The Whitechurch club was first established in 1904 to represent the eastern half of Blarney parish. It made some progress on the Gaelic football field, however, it went into decline for a period. It was reformed as a hurling club for some years in the 1920s, and competed in the newly formed City Division. A shortage of players result in the club becoming defunct by 1928. In 1959, Whitechurch was revived as a sister Gaelic football club to Blarney hurling club in the Muskerry Division. The Whitechurch-Blarney arrangement ended in 1968, when Whitechurch became an independent dual club. Two Mid Cork JBHC titles were secured in 1968 and 1970. 2010 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 2010 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 124th edition of the GAA's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament, played between 31 of the 32 counties of Ireland plus London and New York. The draw for the championship took place on 22 October 2009. The championship began on 2 May 2010 and concluded with the All-Ireland final at Croke Park on 19 September 2010. Cork defeated Down by 0-16 to 0-15 to win their seventh All-Ireland senior title, and their first since 1990. The 2010 championship was unusual in that all four provincial champions (Kerry, Meath, Roscommon and Tyrone) were knocked out in the All-Ireland quarter-finals, and all four provincial runners-up (Limerick, Louth, Sligo and Monaghan) were eliminated in the fourth and final round of the All-Ireland qualifiers. All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. Paudie Kissane
Paudie Kissane (born 1 March 1980) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a left wing-back for the Cork senior team. Born in Whitechurch, County Cork, Kissane arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of eighteen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team, before later joining the under-21 and junior sides. He made his debut in the 2002 National Football League. Kissane went on to play a key part on and off the team for over a decade, and won one All-Ireland medal, two Munster medals and three National Football League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. Kissane represented the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions throughout his career. At club level he began his career with Whitechurch before later winning a premier intermediate championship medal with Clyda Rovers. The Cork Junior B Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Junior B Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork JBHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the second tier junior clubs in the county of Cork in Ireland. It is the seventh tier overall in the entire Cork hurling championship system. The Cork Junior B Championship was introduced in 1984 as a countywide competition for "weaker" junior teams. At the time of its creation it was the fourth tier of Cork hurling. The Cork Junior B Championship is unlike all other championships in Cork in that it doesn't include a group stage. The All-Ireland Junior B Club Hurling Championship is an annual inter-county club hurling competition organised by Killeedy GAA club since 2006 for eligible hurling clubs. Clubs qualify for the competition based on their performance in their county club championships. The final, usually held in March, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during the winter and spring months, and the results determine which county's team receives the cup. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the series. The Munster Junior B Club Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by Killeedy GAA Club in Limerick since 2005 for the champion junior B hurling teams in the province of Munster in Ireland. Seandún GAA
Seandun GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division in the city of Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, at adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. In addition, the division selects football and hurling teams from the adult teams playing at junior level or county intermediate level, and these then compete for the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship.
