White Walkers
A White Walker is a humanoid creature from the HBO television series '' Game of Thrones'', and the George R. R. Martin novel series '' A Song of Ice and Fire'' on which it is based. Primarily referred to as the Others in the novels, White Walkers are a supernatural threat to mankind who dwell north of The Wall in Westeros. ''The Verge'' named them among "the most visually iconic creatures on the show". White Walkers are also featured in the show's merchandising. ''A Song of Ice and Fire'' is a series of epic fantasy novels by the American novelist and screenwriter George R. R. Martin. He began the first volume of the series, ''A Game of Thrones'', in 1991, and it was published in 1996. Martin, who initially envisioned the series as a trilogy, has published five out of a planned seven volumes. The fifth and most recent volume of the series, ''A Dance with Dragons'', was published in 2011, six years after the publication of the preceding book, ''A Feast for Crows''. Wight
A wight (Old English: ''wiht'') is a mythical sentient being, often undead. In its original use the word ''wight'' described a living human being, but has come to be used in fictional works in the fantasy genre to describe certain immortal beings. An example of this use occurs in William Morris's translation of the ''Grettis Saga'', where '' haugbui'' is translated as " barrow-wight". Wights also feature in J. R. R. Ross Mullan
Ross Mullan (born 5 January 1967) is a Canadian-British actor and puppeteer, known for portraying multiple White Walkers on the HBO television series ''Game of Thrones'' in its second through fourth seasons. He has appeared in episodes of ''Doctor Who'' and in the 2010 film '' Clash of the Titans''. Early life Mullan grew up in Montreal and attended Children's Theatre in the West End of Montreal. Later he did the theatre program at John Abbott College and then Ryerson University for their Theatre program. Career After completing University he moved to Ottawa and worked at the Oddyssey Theatre developing skills in mask and puppet movement theatre. Mullan moved to the UK on a whim after going there on vacation. ''The Winds of Winter'' is the planned sixth novel in the epic fantasy series ''A Song of Ice and Fire'' by American writer George R. R. Martin. Martin believes the last two volumes of the series will total over 3,000 manuscript pages. Martin has refrained from making hard estimates for the novel's final release date after several delays.
