White Plume Mountain
''White Plume Mountain'' is an adventure module for the ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game, written by Lawrence Schick and published by TSR in 1979. The 16-page adventure bears the code "S2" ("S" for "special"). The adventure is a dungeon crawl where the players' characters are hired to retrieve three "notorious" magical weapons, each possessing its own intelligence. The adventure contains art by Erol Otus, and a cover by Jeff Dee. A sequel, ''Return to White Plume Mountain'', was published in 1999, and an updated version conforming to v3.5 rules was released online in 2005. The original was again updated for the 5th edition in 2017 as the fourth part of ''Tales from the Yawning Portal''. ''White Plume Mountain'' was well received by critics. It was ranked the 9th greatest ''Dungeons & Dragons'' adventure of all time by ''Dungeon'' magazine in 2004. S, or s, is the nineteenth letter in the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and others worldwide. Its name in English is ''ess'' (pronounced ), plural ''esses''. History Origin Northwest Semitic šîn represented a voiceless postalveolar fricative (as in 'ip'). The Believer Magazine
''The Believer'' is an American bimonthly magazine of interviews, essays, and reviews, founded by the writers Heidi Julavits, Vendela Vida, and Ed Park in 2003. The magazine is a five-time finalist for the National Magazine Award. Between 2003 and 2015, ''The Believer'' was published by McSweeney's, the independent press founded in 1998 by Dave Eggers. Eggers designed ''The Believer'' original design template. Park left ''The Believer'' in 2011, with Julavits and Vida continuing to serve as editors. In 2017, the magazine found a new home, moving from McSweeney's to the Beverly Rogers, Carol C. Harter Black Mountain Institute, an international literary center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In October 2021, The UNLV College of Liberal Arts announced that the February/March 2022 issue of ''Believer'' would be the final issue published.
