Road Surface Marking
Road surface marking is any kind of device or material that is used on a road surface in order to convey official information; they are commonly placed with road marking machines (also referred to as road marking equipment or pavement marking equipment). They can also be applied in other facilities used by vehicles to mark parking spaces or designate areas for other uses. In some countries and areas (France, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia etc.), road markings are conceived as horizontal traffic signs, as opposed to vertical traffic signs placed on posts. Road surface markings are used on paved roadways to provide guidance and information to drivers and pedestrians. Uniformity of the markings is an important factor in minimizing confusion and uncertainty about their meaning, and efforts exist to standardize such markings across borders. However, countries and areas categorize and specify road surface markings in different ways—white lines are called white lines mechanical, non ...

Hilton White Line
The anocutaneous line, also called the Hilton white line or intersphincteric groove, is a boundary in the anal canal. Below the anocutaneous line, lymphatic drainage is to the superficial inguinal nodes. The anocutaneous line is slightly below the pectinate line and a landmark for the intermuscular border between internal and external anal sphincter muscles. The anocutaneous line represents the transition point from non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium of the anal canal to keratinized stratified squamous epithelium of the anus and perianal skin. In live persons, the color of the line is white, hence the alternative name. It is named for John Hilton. White Line Disease
White line disease (also known as seedy toe) is a fungal infection of the horse's hoof. As the name suggests, it attacks the white line, which connects the sole to the hoof wall. It is sometimes mistaken for hoof wall separation disease, but is not to be confused because it is not genetic nor as severe. Clinical signs White line disease changes the typical light color of the white line to a black or dark gray color. It may also give off a foul odor. Lameness is often not present unless the disease is advanced. The disease may locate in the toe area of the hoof, giving rise to the name seedy toe. White line disease may not be noticed by the horse owner and is most often diagnosed by a farrier during routine hoof trims or shoeing. It may affect horses of any age, breed or sex, and can affect one foot or all four feet. Causes White line disease is most often seen in moist, humid areas with large annual rainfall totals. The exact organism that causes white line disease is not know ...

Horse Hoof
A horse hoof is the lower extremity of each leg of a horse, the part that makes contact with the ground and carries the weight of the animal. It is both hard and flexible. It is a complex structure surrounding the distal phalanx of the 3rd digit (digit III of the basic pentadactyl limb of vertebrates, evolved into a single weight-bearing digit in horses) of each of the four limbs, which is covered by soft tissue and keratinised (cornified) matter. Anatomy The hoof is made up of two parts. The outer part, called the hoof capsule, is composed of various cornified specialized structures. The inner, living part of the hoof, is made up of soft tissues and bone. The cornified material of the hoof capsule differ in structure and properties. Dorsally, it covers, protects, and supports P3 (also known as the coffin bone, pedal bone, or PIII). Palmarly/plantarly, it covers and protects specialised soft tissues, such as tendons, ligaments, fibro-fatty and/or fibrocartilaginous tissues, an ...

After the Second World War he was named a papal domestic prelate by Pope Pius XII and served as notary of the Holy Office, working alongside and assisting Alfredo Cardinal Ottaviani until 1960. Early life Shortly after Hugh O'Flaherty's birth in Lisrobin, Kiskeam, County Cork, his parents, James and Margaret, moved to Killarney. Lane Splitting
Lane splitting is riding a bicycle or motorcycle between lanes or rows of slow moving or stopped traffic moving in the same direction. It is sometimes called whitelining, or stripe-riding. This allows riders to save time, bypassing traffic congestion, and may also be safer than stopping behind stationary vehicles. Filtering or filtering forward describes moving through traffic that is stopped, such as at a red traffic light. In the developing world In population-dense and traffic-congested urban areas, particularly in the developing world, the space between larger vehicles is filled with a wide variety of different kinds of two-wheeled vehicles, as well as pedestrians, and many other human or animal powered conveyances. In places such as Bangkok, Thailand and in Indonesia, the ability of motorcycles to take advantage of the space between cars has led to the growth of a motorcycle taxi industry. In Indonesia, the motorcycle is the most common type of vehicle. Unlike typical de ...

White Line (Montreal Metro)
The White Line (french: Ligne blanche), also known as Line 7 (french: Ligne 7), was a proposed line of the Montreal Metro that never made it past its planning stage. The White Line was first proposed by the Commission de transport de Montréal (CTM) during the initial planning for the Montreal Metro in 1953, and in 1970 the Communauté urbaine de Montréal (CUM) proposed an extension of the Green Line to Montréal-Nord. In September 1983, the Bureau des Transports de Montréal (BTM) proposed a new north-south Line 7 consisting of ten stations, from Pie-IX to Léger, under Boulevard Pie-IX, through Saint-Léonard and north-east towards Rivière-des-Prairies. A year later, at the start of 1984, it was formally proposed by the Communauté urbaine de Montréal (CUM), with 12 stations (from Pie-IX to Maurice-Duplessis/Langelier). For nearly a decade during the 1980s and 1990s, the line appeared on all official Métro maps, coloured white, so it received the unofficial nickname of ...
