Which Way To The War
''Which Way to the War'' is a failed pilot for a planned British television sitcom, which was written by David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd. The pilot episode originally aired on 19 August 1994. It was also Croft and Lloyd's only ITV sitcom and Croft's last World War II sitcom. Plot In the Western Desert of World War Two, a party of British "Desert Rats" soldiers and a party of Australian soldiers are holed up in a remote building, when an ambulance of Italian "nurses" arrive. The pilot was badly received and was never developed into a series. The pilot was directed by Roy Gould who had worked for David Croft at the BBC. Cast * William Tapley as Cpl. Jeremy Lloyd
John Jeremy Lloyd, OBE (22 July 1930 – 23 December 2014) was an English writer, screenwriter, author, poet and actor. He was the co-writer of several successful British sitcoms, including ''Are You Being Served?'' and '' 'Allo 'Allo!''. Early years John Jeremy Lloyd was born in Danbury, Essex to a mother who had been a dancer, and a petroleum engineer father who served as an officer in the Royal Engineers at the beginning of World War II. As a child he was sent to live with his grandmother in Manchester and rarely saw his parents, who he claimed had seen him as a failure. His father withdrew him from a private preparatory school in 1943. Lloyd then worked as a junior assistant in the menswear department at Simpsons of Piccadilly and many of the characters depicted in ''Are You Being Served?'' were drawn from his recollections of his time there. Nadia Sawalha (; born 18 November 1964) is a British actress, television personality and YouTuber. She played the role of Annie Palmer on the BBC One soap opera '' EastEnders'' from 1997 to 1999 and Gina in ITV comedy Second Thoughts from 1992 to 1994. She has been a long-term panellist on the ITV daytime talk show '' Loose Women'', being one of the original panellists from its start in 1999 until 2002, before returning to the show in 2013 after a panellist revamp. Major David John Croft, (born David John Andrew Sharland; 7 September 1922 – 27 September 2011) was an English television comedy screenwriter, producer and director.
