Jerome (; la, Eusebius Sophronius Hieronymus; grc-gre, Εὐσέβιος Σωφρόνιος Ἱερώνυμος; – 30 September 420), also known as Jerome of Stridon, was a Christian priest, confessor, theologian, and historian; he is commonly known as Saint Jerome. Jerome was born at Stridon, a village near Emona on the border of Dalmatia and Pannonia. He is best known for his translation of the Bible into Latin (the translation that became known as the Vulgate) and his commentaries on the whole Bible. Jerome attempted to create a translation of the Old Testament based on a Hebrew version, rather than the Septuagint, as Latin Bible translations used to be performed before him. Simeon Wheelock
Simeon Wheelock (March 29, 1741– September 30, 1786) was a blacksmith from Uxbridge, Massachusetts, who served as a minuteman in the Massachusetts militia during the battles of Lexington and Concord in the American Revolutionary War. After the war he was killed while on militia duty protecting the Springfield Armory during Shays' Rebellion. Family Wheelock was born to Colonel Silas Wheelock and Hannah Albee of Mendon, Massachusetts, on March 29, 1741. His father was a colonel. Simeon was a great-great grandson of Ralph Wheelock, Rev. Ralph Wheelock. Many of Simeon's brothers would also serve in the Revolutionary War. Ralph Wheelock, the original immigrant and Simeon's great grandfather, was the first teacher in the Dedham Public Schools, the first public school in America, founded in Dedham, Massachusetts in the 1640s. Sean Wheelock (born 1974) is a mixed martial arts and soccer commentator based in Shawnee, Kansas. He served as the commentator for the M-1 Challenge and served as the play-by-play television commentator for Bellator Fighting Championships from April 2010 until July 2015. Ralph Wheelock (1600–1683) was an English Puritan minister, American colonial public official, and educator. He is known for having been the first public school teacher in America. Early life and education Ralph Wheelock was most likely born in the year 1600 in Donington, Shropshire, England. Lucy Wheelock
Lucy Wheelock (February 1, 1857October 1, 1946) was an American early childhood education pioneer within the American kindergarten movement. She began her career by teaching the kindergarten program at Chauncy-Hall School (1879–89). Wheelock was the founder and head of Wheelock Kindergarten Training School, which later became Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts, and is now the namesake of Boston University's college of education BU Wheelock. Karla Susana Wheelock Aguayo, or simply Karla Wheelock (born 14 April 1968) is a Mexican mountaineer, writer, and lecturer. Shortly after Elsa Ávila became the first Latin American woman to ascend Mount Everest on 5 May 1999, Wheelock ascended Everest by the same route. She is the first Iberoamerican woman to climb the Seven Summits, achieving this in 2005.
