Wheal Eliza
Wheal Eliza is a cricket ground in Holmbush, to the east of St Austell, Cornwall. The ground is bordered to the south by Holmbush Road, to the east by the A391 road and to the north and west by housing. The end names of the ground are the Jewson End and the Britannia End. Facilities include two playing fields with their own changing room facilities enabling two competitive matches to be played every match day. The ground also has a pavilion, scorebox, artificial and grass nets. History Established in 1973, the land surrounding the site of the ground had previously been used for mining. Cornwall first played there against Dorset in the 1982 Minor Counties Championship. A single Minor Counties Championship match was played annually there throughout the remainder of that decade and into the 1990s. St Austell
St Austell (; kw, Sans Austel) is a town in Cornwall, England, south of Bodmin and west of the border with Devon. St Austell is one of the largest towns in Cornwall; at the 2011 census it had a population of 19,958. History St Austell was a village centred around the parish church, until the arrival of significant tin mining in the 18th century turned it into a town. St Austell is named after the 6th century Cornish saint, St Austol, a disciple of St Mewan. In a Vatican manuscript there is a 10th-century list of Cornish parish saints. Warwickshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Warwickshire. Cricket Grounds In Cornwall
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). List Of Cornwall County Cricket Club Grounds
Cornwall County Cricket Club was established in November 1894. The club has played minor counties cricket since 1897 and played List A cricket from 1970 to 2003, using a number of home grounds during that time. Their first minor counties fixture in 1897 was against Glamorgan, while their first List A match came 73 years later against the same opposition in the 1970 Gillette Cup. One first-class match has been held in the Duchy, when an England XI played the touring Australians in 1899. History was made in 2012, when England Women played India Women in a Women's One Day International at Boscawen Park in Truro, the first time an official international match had been played in Cornwall. David Angove
David Angove (born 7 March 1974) is an English former cricketer who played for Cornwall County Cricket Club. In his only List A appearance he scored 6 runs and took 4 wickets for 65 runs. against Warwickshire in the 1996 NatWest Trophy. This performance was noted by Warwickshire, who immediately picked Angove for their upcoming Second XI fixture against Middlesex. Angove went on to play 4 matches in the Second XI Championship, two for Warwickshire and two for Essex. Paul Weekes
Paul Nicholas Weekes (born 8 July 1969) is an English former cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm offspin bowler. Born in Hackney, Weekes made his first-class debut for Middlesex in 1990. He is the only English cricketer to have scored more than 150 runs in both innings of a first-class game. He has twice made over 1,000 runs in 1996 and 2004. He helped Middlesex finish the 2005 National League as runners-up to Essex. He retired from first-class cricket following Middlesex's relegation at the end of the 2006 county season, having stated his desire to play regular first team cricket earlier in the season. He finished his career with a first-class batting average of 34.88 and a first-class bowling average of 41.97, with 304 wickets to his name. In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket.
