Maurizio Ponzi
Maurizio Ponzi (born 8 May 1939) is an Italian film director, screenwriter and cinema critic. Born in Rome, he wrote cinema reviews in several Italian magazines during the early 1960s. He worked as assistant director in Pier Paolo Pasolini's episode in ''Amore e rabbia'' and directed a series of documentaries in 1967–1968. He has directed 22 films between 1968 (his debut film '' I visionari'' won a prize in the Locarno Festival) and 2004. His film ''The Pool Hustlers'' (''Io, Chiara e lo Scuro'', one of three featuring Francesco Nuti that Ponzi directed in the early 1980s) was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival. Life and career Born in Poggibonsi, province of Siena, as Novellantonio Novelli, a former footballer and surveyor, Novelli initially was the manager of the cabaret group "I Giancattivi" consisting of Francesco Nuti, Athina Cenci and Alessandro Benvenuti. In 1981, he made his acting debut in the Giancattivi's film ''West of Paperino'', then, after the group disbanded, Novelli remained associated to Nuti, appearing in almost all his films. He also worked with Benvenuti, being critically appreciated for his performances in ''Welcome to Home Gori'' and its sequel, ''Return to Home Gori''. Death Novelli died in Poggibonsi on 10 January 2018, aged 87. Edi Angelillo (born 7 September 1961) is an Italian actress, television personality and singer. She is sometimes credited as Edy Angelillo. Life and career Born Edilberta Angelillo in Venice, she is the daughter of singers and stage artists who performed with the name Franco & Regina. Angelillo studied dance, mime and acting, and at 19 years old, in 1979, she made her film debut in Maurizio Nichetti's ''Ratataplan''.
