Wetherby High School
Wetherby High School (formerly Wetherby Secondary Modern School) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Hallfield area of Wetherby, West Yorkshire, England. The school is run by the City of Leeds Local Education Authority. It is situated on Hallfield Lane, on the Hallfields Estate in Wetherby, and adjacent to the Wetherby Campus of Leeds City College, formerly Park Lane College. The school buildings were frequently used by the college at night. History The school is a former secondary modern school (pupils who passed the 11-plus would have most likely attended Tadcaster Grammar School). The school was originally on Crossley Street, but once these premises had become too small for the school, the new site was built in 1966 – the notable feature being a tower block overlooking the car park of The Horsefair Centre; the town's shopping precinct. Parasports
Parasports are sports played by people with a disability, including physical and intellectual disabilities. Some parasports are forms of adapted physical activities from existing able-bodied sports, while others have been specifically created for persons with a disability and do not have an able-bodied equivalent. Disability exists in four categories: physical, mental, permanent and temporary. At a competitive level, disability sport classifications are applied to allow people of varying abilities to face similar opposition. Kadeena Cox
Kadeena Cox (born 10 March 1991) is a parasport athlete competing in T38 para-athletics sprint events and C4 para-cycling and British television presenter. She was part of the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships and the 2016 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, in which she won world titles in the T37 100m and C4 500m time trial respectively. Brutalist Architecture
Brutalist architecture is an architectural style that emerged during the 1950s in the United Kingdom, among the reconstruction projects of the post-war era. Belle Isle is a large suburb south of Leeds city centre, West Yorkshire, England. It is bounded to the north and east by the M621 motorway. Cockburn John Charles Academy (formerly The South Leeds Academy) is a mixed secondary school located in the Belle Isle area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was originally known as Belle Isle Middle School, before becoming a secondary school. It was then renamed Merlyn Rees Community High School. The school was formally merged with Matthew Murray High School in 2006 and was renamed South Leeds High School. The school then relocated to a new site near John Charles Centre for Sport. East Leeds High School
East Leeds Family Learning Centre was a large Adult Education Centre in Seacroft, Leeds, England. The buildings were originally used as a secondary school, Foxwood School. The school is notable for its use for filming ''The Beiderbecke Trilogy'' between 1984 and 1988. Demolition of the buildings began in December 2009 and was completed early in 2010. History The centre was in the buildings of the former Foxwood School, later East Leeds High School. The school originally opened as an all-boys school, but changed in September 1971 to a mixed gender school.
