Westye Egeberg
Westye Egeberg (16 August 1770 – 27 February 1830) was a Danish born, Norwegian businessperson. He founded Westye Egeberg & Co. a Norwegian timber company that existed from 1800 to 1929. Biography Egeberg was born on the island of Als (island), Als at Sønderborg Municipality, Sønderborg in the region of Syddanmark, Denmark. He re-located to Norway in 1786. He married Anna Sophie Muus (1775–1862) and was the father of several children including Westye Martinus Egeberg (1805-1898), physician Christian Egeberg (1809-1874) and composer Fredrikke Egeberg (1815–1861). In 1800, he founded the timber trade company Westye Egeberg & Co in Oslo, Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He purchased the Gahnsbruket timber lands in Fet near Lake Øyeren in Akershus. This formed the basis for an important lumber company and was passed on through generations. He controlled the company until his death in 1830. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Einar Westye Egeberg
Einar Westye Egeberg Sr. (23 July 1851 – 7 June 1940) was a Norwegian businessperson and politician for the Conservative Party. Personal life He was born in Kristiania as a son of Peder Cappelen Egeberg (1810–1874) and Hanna Wilhelmine Scheel. He was a brother of Ferdinand Julian Egeberg, first cousin of physician Theodor Christian Egeberg, a grandson of Westye Egeberg and a nephew of Westye Martinus Egeberg, surgeon Christian Egeberg and composer Fredrikke Egeberg. Through his brother he was an uncle of Westye Parr Egeberg, and through a sister he was a granduncle of Ferdinand Finne. In September 1877 in Østre Aker he married Birgitte Halvordine Schou, a daughter of Halvor Schou. His own daughter Hermine Egeberg was married to Lord Chamberlain Peder Anker Wedel Jarlsberg. Ferdinand Julian Egeberg
Ferdinand Julian Egeberg (23 November 1842 – 12 September 1921) was a Norwegian military officer, chamberlain and timber merchant. He is remembered for having founded the sports prize Egebergs Ærespris, which was regarded as the highest achievement in Norwegian sport. Personal life Egeberg was born in Moss in Østfold, Norway. He was the son of merchant Peder Cappelen Egeberg and Hanna Wilhelmine Scheel. He was a brother of Einar Westye Egeberg, Sr. and a grandson of Westye Egeberg. He married Lucy Parr in 1876. Their son Westye Parr Egeberg was a notable landowner. Through their daughter Esther Lucy Egeberg he was grandfather of painter and writer Ferdinand Finne. He died in Tolga in 1921, aged 78. Akershus
Akershus () is a traditional region and current electoral district in Norway, with Oslo as its main city and traditional capital. It is named after the Akershus Fortress in Oslo. From the middle ages to 1919, Akershus was a fief and main county that included most of Eastern Norway, and from the 17th century until 2020, Akershus also had a more narrow meaning as a (sub) county that included most of the Greater Oslo Region.
