Westwood, Baillie
Westwood, Baillie and Co was a Victorian engineering and shipbuilding company based at London Yard in Cubitt Town, London. The company was set up in 1856 by Robert Baillie and Joseph Westwood, previously managers of Thames Ironworks and Shipbuilding Company, Ditchburn and Mares shipyard. Partly as a result of a fall in demand due to the financial crisis of 1866, a period of financial stress and reorganisation resulted in Westwood and Baillie acting as managers for the London Engineering & Iron Shipbuilding Company Ltd, until they regained control in 1872. For much of its life the company produced iron and steel work for bridges. In 1887 the company made the girders for the Lansdowne Bridge Rohri, Lansdowne Bridge over the Indus River, then the longest rigid girder bridge in the world. Westwood, Wiltshire
Westwood is a large village and a civil parish in west Wiltshire, England. The village is about southwest of the town of Bradford-on-Avon. Upper Westwood, on a ridge crest to the north, was a distinct settlement from Lower Westwood but 20th-century housing filled the gap. The parish includes most of the village of Avoncliff, namely the portion south of the Avon, and the hamlet of Lye Green. Location The Avon forms most of the northern boundary of the parish; Avoncliff railway station is just over the boundary. The Kennet and Avon canal crosses the parish to the north, as far as the Avoncliff Aqueduct. To the northeast lies Bradford on Avon parish, and to the west is the county boundary with Somerset which follows the valley of the River Frome. Neighbouring villages are Winsley and Turleigh to the north, and Freshford to the west. Westwood is a hamlet in the parish of Southfleet in Kent, England, in the west of the parish. It is one mile west of the village of Southfleet. In the 19th century it was one of only two hamlets within the parish (the other being Betsham, in addition to the main village). West Bagborough is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, about north of Taunton in the Somerset West and Taunton district. In 2011 the village had a population of 358. The parish of West Bagborough lies on the south-west slopes of the Quantock Hills within the Quantock Hills A.O.N.B and encompasses the neighbouring hamlets of Shopnoller and Seven Ash. The village has a wide variety of properties, with a wide range of building techniques and ages. Due to its availability, local red sandstone features heavily in buildings, both ancient and modern. The village has a 16th-century inn (the ''Rising Sun''), a village hall, and a number of establishments offering accommodation.
