Westmount Square
Westmount Square is a residential and office complex located in Westmount, Quebec, Canada. There are two residential apartment buildings and two office buildings. These towers sit atop an underground shopping centre consisting of thirty-five shops. It is located between Saint Catherine Street and De Maisonneuve Boulevard and between Wood Avenue and Greene Avenue. It is connected to Place Alexis Nihon, Dawson College, and the Atwater Metro station by a tunnel. The complex was designed by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the International style. Construction began in 1964 and the complex opened on December 13, 1967. The exterior facade features curtain walls, and is made of black anodized aluminum and smoked glass windows. 860–880 Lake Shore Drive Apartments
860–880 Lake Shore Drive is a twin pair of glass-and-steel apartment towers on N. Lake Shore Drive along Lake Michigan in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Construction began in 1949 and the project was completed in 1951. The towers were added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 28, 1980, and were designated as Chicago Landmarks on June 10, 1996. The 26-floor, 254-ft (82 m) tall towers were designed by the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and dubbed the "Glass House" apartments. Construction was by the Chicago real estate developer Herbert Greenwald, and the Sumner S. Sollitt Company. The tallest building in the city is the 51-storey, , 1000 de La Gauchetière Municipal regulations forbid any building from exceeding the height of Mount Royal, or 233 m (764 ft) above mean sea level. Nuns' Island Gas Station
The Nun's Island gas station was a modernist-style filling station in Montreal built in 1969 and attributed to Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Joe Fujikawa, who worked for Mies, was the project architect. Closed for several years, it was later converted to a community centre. It was the first gas station on the island, commissioned by Imperial Oil. Community centre The borough of Verdun transformed the building into a community arts centre, La Station. Eric Gauthier was the lead architect on the project, which saw the two glass pavilions rebuilt to their original 3,000- and sizes. La Station is a community centre for teens and people over 50 years of age. Fodor's is a publisher of English language travel and tourism information. Fodor's Travel and Fodors.com are divisions of Internet Brands. History Founder Eugene Fodor was a keen traveler, but felt that the guidebooks of his time were boring, uninspired collections of quickly outdated facts and figures.
