Western Jets
The Western Jets is an Australian rules football club which plays in the Victorian premier U19 competition, the NAB League, since its inception in 1992. The club have developmental squads in the U16, however much of the attention is towards its U18 team. The club is geographically set in Melbourne's West as part of a decision by AFL Victoria (formerly Football Victoria) to have clubs in all regions of the state. The club trains in Melbourne's inner west at Crofts Reserve in Altona North and plays NAB League matches at Burbank Oval in Williamstown. Their current coach is Robbie Chancellor, who replaced Ryan O’Keefe at the end of the 2020 season. NAB League
The NAB League Boys (also referred to as simply the NAB League and formerly known as the TAC Cup) is an under-19 Australian rules football representative competition held in Australia. It is based on geographic regions throughout country Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne with each team representing twelve Victorian regions, while a thirteenth team from Tasmania was reintroduced in 2019. The competition is sponsored by National Australia Bank (NAB), having previously been sponsored by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) since its inception. The competition is one of the primary sources of recruitment for Australian Football League (AFL) clubs. It provides an opportunity for talented regional players to participate in a high standard competition without having to relocate too far from their place of origin. Heath Scotland
Heath Scotland (born 21 July 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. He played for Collingwood and Carlton, appearing in two AFL Grand Finals during his time with Collingwood. He was awarded the Best and Fairest for the Carlton Football Club in 2012. His professional career ended in 2014. Playing career Early playing career Scotland grew up and played his junior football for the Darley Football Club, then in the Riddell District Football League, and he played TAC Cup football for the Western Jets. He also featured in the National Under 18s Championships for Vic Metro in 1998. David Antonowicz
David Antonowicz (born 1 June 1980) is an Australian rules footballer who played three games for West Coast in the Australian Football League in 2000. Originally recruited from the Western Jets, Antonowicz struggled to gain a place in the Eagles side and spent most of his time playing in the West Australian Football League with Subiaco, Claremont and East Perth. Chris Obst
Chris Obst (born 9 October 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Australian Football League (AFL). Obst was drafted from the Western Jets in the TAC Cup but came from Melton originally. A half back, he was taken by Hawthorn at pick 19 in the 1997 National Draft. He struggled with injuries while at Hawthorn and never managed to play more than six games in a season. In 2001, he was a member of Box Hill's premiership. He was picked up by the Sydney Swans in the 2002 Rookie Draft but would not play a senior game for the club and was delisted at the end of the year. Lance Picioane
Lance Picioane (born 7 June 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Adelaide, Hawthorn and the Kangaroos during his time in the Australian Football League (AFL). Picioane attended Essendon Grammar and was captain of the Vic Metro Under 16s and Under 17s which played in the victorious Vic Metro at the 1997 AFL Under 18 Championships. Picioane started his career in 1998 with Adelaide but found it difficult to find a regular spot with a side that had won a premiership the previous season. He failed to play a senior game for Adelaide in 1999 and at the end of the season he was traded to Hawthorn for pick 79 in the upcoming draft. Playing mostly in the midfield, Picioane managed 58 games in his five years at Hawthorn before being delisted at the end of the 2004 season. Todd McHardy
Todd McHardy (born 6 April 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Originally from Keilor Park in the Essendon District Football League, McHardy played for the Western Jets in the under-18 TAC Cup competition. In conjunction with playing for the Jets, McHardy also represented the Victorian Metro team at the 1994 AFL Under 18 Championships. Known throughout his junior career as quick half-forward who could take a good mark, McHardy was drafted by Melbourne with the 76th selection in the 1994 National Draft, with Melbourne coach Neil Balme stating that the club had placed "an emphasis on speed" when considering whom to select in the 1994 Draft.
