Western Indiana Community Foundation
Western Indiana Community Foundation ("WICF") was incorporated on November 30, 1990 for the betterment of Fountain County, Indiana and Vermillion County, Indiana and its citizens. The community foundation is a U.S. registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charity (Federal Employer Identification Number: 35-1814927). The Foundation provides administrative, governance, public relations and marketing support for four affiliate foundations. These affiliates include: * Attica Community Foundation * Covington Community Foundation * Southeast Fountain Community Foundation * Vermillion County Community Foundation In Fountain County, each affiliate serves the geographic area of the local school district, but has no formal associations with the school corporations. Covington, IN
Covington is a city in, and the county seat of, Fountain County, Indiana, Fountain County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,645 at the 2010 census. History Fountain County was formed on April 1, 1826. Later that year, the county seat was established at Covington, and a two-story frame courthouse was built in 1827. The location of the county seat was a point of contention for some years, as Covington was not centrally located in the county. In 1831 an act was passed that called for the relocation of the county seat, but after further discussion it was decided that it should remain where it was. Wallace, originally named Jacksonville, is a town located in Jackson Township, Fountain County, Indiana, United States. At the 2010 census, the town had a total population of 105. History Jacksonville, one of Fountain County's early settlements, was established by John Bowman and his father Henry in the early 1830s on land situated just north of Mill Creek and was named for Andrew Jackson. The town's name in informal speech was often shortened to "Jackville". The first settler at the site was Richard Williams who erected a cabin as early as 1826, several years before the town was laid out, with the first house erected after Jacksonville's platting belonging to William Guilliams. Perrysville, Indiana
Perrysville is a town in Highland Township, Vermillion County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 456 at the 2010 census. History Perrysville was platted and surveyed in 1825 by James Blair on a bluff on the west side of the Wabash River. The town is named for Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the hero of the Battle of Lake Erie. It became a local center for shipping products to New Orleans on flatboats via the Wabash, Ohio, and Mississippi Rivers, and it was also able to receive heavy equipment and manufactured items on steamboats.
