Western Freeway (Mumbai)
The Western Freeway was a proposed controlled-access highway in Mumbai, India that would stretch from Marine Drive in South Mumbai to Kandivli in the north, a distance of 29 km. The project envisioned the construction of four major sea links over the Arabian Sea along Mumbai's western coastline to reduce traffic-congestion between the Western Suburbs and South Mumbai. The first sea link, known as the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, was completed in June 2009, and connects Bandra in the north and Worli in the south with a cable stayed bridge spanning the Mahim Bay. This development relieved congestion on the Mahim Causeway, which until then had been the only road between the Western Suburbs and South Mumbai on the western sea front. Marine Drive, Mumbai
Marine Drive is a 3 kilometre-long Promenade along the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road in Mumbai, India. The road and promenade were constructed by Pallonji Mistry. It is a 'C'-shaped six-lane concrete road along the coast of a natural bay. At the northern end of Marine Drive is Girgaon Chowpatty and the adjacent road along links Nariman Point at southern tip to Babulnath and Malabar Hill at northern tip. Marine Drive is situated on reclaimed land facing west-south-west. Marine Drive is also known as the ''Queen's Necklace'' because, when viewed at night from an elevated point anywhere along the drive, the street lights resemble a string of pearls in a necklace. The official name for this road, though rarely used, is ''Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road''. The promenade is lined with palm trees. At the northern end of Marine Drive is Chowpatty Beach. Worli-Haji Ali Sea Link
Worli-Haji Ali Sea Link (WHAL) ( mr, वरळी हाजी अली सागरी सेतू) is a proposed bridge with pre-stressed concrete viaduct approaches. It will link Worli to Haji Ali section over sea. It is part of a Western Freeway project. If built, it will have the country's first cloverleaf interchange flyover built entirely over sea, and it would be the first project to be undertaken on a design-build-operate-transfer (DBOT) basis by MSRDC. A cable-stayed bridge has one or more ''towers'' (or ''pylons''), from which cables support the bridge deck. Coastal Regulation Zone
Under the section 3 of Environment Protection Act, 1986 of India, Coastal Regulation Zone notification was issued in February 1991 for the first time, for regulation of activities in the coastal area by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF). As per the notification, the coastal land up to 500m from the High Tide Line (HTL) and a stage of 100m along banks of creeks, lagoons, estuaries, backwater and rivers subject to tidal fluctuations, is called the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ). CRZ along the country has been placed in four categories. The above notification includes only the inter-tidal zone and land part of the coastal area and does not include the ocean part. Haji Ali Dargah
The Haji Ali Dargah is a mosque and dargah or the monument of Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari located on an islet off the coast of Worli in the southern Mumbai. An exquisite example of Indo-Islamic Architecture, associated with legends about doomed lovers, the dargah contains the tomb of Haji Ali Shah Bukhari.
