Western Canada Lottery Corporation
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) is a Canadian non-profit organization founded in 1974 that operates lottery and gaming-related activities for its members, the governments of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut participate as associate members. WCLC works in conjunction with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC), Saskatchewan Lotteries (which is operated by Sask Sport under purview of the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority), Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Corporation, Lotteries Yukon and Sport North Lottery Authority. Lotto 6/49
Lotto 6/49 is one of three national lottery games in Canada. Launched on June 12, 1982, Lotto 6/49 was the first nationwide Canadian lottery game to allow players to choose their own numbers. Previous national games, such as the Olympic Lottery, Loto Canada and Superloto used pre-printed numbers on tickets. Lotto 6/49 led to the gradual phase-out of that type of lottery game in Canada. Winning numbers are drawn by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) every Wednesday and Saturday, executed with a random number generator. Sport Select
Sport Select is a group of sports betting games offered by Canada's lottery corporations. In Quebec, the program is known as Pari sportif; in Ontario and Atlantic Canada, it is known as Pro-Line while in British Columbia, it is known as Sports Action. However, the rules for the games are similar in all provinces. Initially created to offer betting primarily on the North American major professional sports leagues, Sport Select has expanded to offer betting on competitions such as the English Premier League and college sports. Don Wittman
Donald Rae Wittman (October 9, 1936 – January 19, 2008) was a Canadian sportscaster. Early life and education Born in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Wittman attended the University of Saskatchewan and got his start in the field of broadcasting as a news reporter with CFQC radio in Saskatoon in 1955. Career Wittman began his long association with CBC Sports on January 1, 1961. He joined CBWT's supper-hour news program ''24Hours'' in 1970 as sports anchor alternating with Bob Picken. He also worked on Winnipeg Jets television and radio broadcasts. During the late 1970s–early 1980s, Wittman hosted ''Western Express'', a half-hour weekly program broadcast in Western Canada which consisted of lottery ticket drawings for the lottery of the same name. Daily Grand
Daily Grand (also known as Grande vie in Quebec and Atlantic Canada) is a Canadian lottery game coordinated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, as one of the country's three national lottery games, alongside Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max. Sales began on October 18, 2016, and the first draw was held on October 20, 2016. The game was not launched in Atlantic Canada until 2017. Winning numbers are chosen from five of 49 main numbers, and a "Grand Number" from 1 to 7. The Grand Number is drawn from a separate pool and may be equal to one of the five main numbers. It is matched separately for determining prize payouts. A single board costs $3, and the game's top prize is an annuity of $1,000 a day (with a $7,000,000 lump sum option). Lotto Super 7
Lotto Super 7 was a national lottery game in Canada, operated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC). It was launched on June 10, 1994, and its last draw was on September 18, 2009. Drawn every Friday night, the lottery had a guaranteed jackpot of , which was carried forward to the next draw if no purchased ticket matched all seven numbers in that draw. The largest jackpot awarded was in May 2002, in which four winning tickets shared a $37.8 million jackpot. Its final draw date was announced by ILC in March 2009, and in July 2009, ILC announced that it would be replaced by a new game, Lotto Max. Lotto Max is a Canadian lottery game coordinated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, as one of the country's three national lottery games. Introduced on September 19, 2009, with its first draw occurring on September 25, 2009, the game replaced Lotto Super 7. As of May 2019, Lotto Max drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday.
