Western Cabaret
''Western Cabaret'' was a live variety programme series broadcast in 1939 on BBC Television. It was one of several spin-offs from the BBC series ''Cabaret''. It was compered by Big Bill Campbell and produced by Harry Pringle. Four episodes were broadcast. The BBC television service was suspended on 1 September 1939 with the outbreak of World War II, and no further episodes were made. The ''Radio Times'' said that the television studio "will be turned into a camp clearing, with a glowing camp-fire and log huts, and all the artists will be introduced as though they were part of the place". No episodes have survived.The show was broadcast live. Methods for recording live television did not exist until late 1947, and were used very rarely by the BBC until around 195355. Ted North Jr. (born Edward Ernest Steinel) (November 3, 1916 – November 22, 1975) was an American film actor of the 1940s, sometimes credited as Michael North. The son of tent show operator Ted North, he was born in Topeka, Kansas, and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1939. North gained early acting experience in some of his father's stock theater productions. He appeared in several films including the films noir ''The Unsuspected'' and ''The Devil Thumbs a Ride'' (both 1947). Evelyn Dall (born Evelyn Mildred Fuss; January 8, 1918 – March 10, 2010) was an American singer and actress. Career Born in The Bronx, New York City as Evelyn Mildred Fuss, she took her stage name from the surname of two grandchildren of President Franklin D Roosevelt. Will Ahern
William James Ahern (October 9, 1896 - May 16, 1983), was a vaudeville entertainer at the beginning of the 20th century. He is best known for being part of a comedy duo with his wife, Gladys Reese Ahern. As part of their act, Ahern told jokes and performed rope tricks while his wife, using a Mexican accent, sang and danced. Early life William James Ahern was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on October 9, 1896. Ahern reportedly ran off with Buffalo Bill's Wild West troupe in 1909 after a local appearance, and learned rope spinning while working with the show.
