Western Australian Grade Cricket
WA Premier Cricket in Western Australia refers to the semi-professional cricket league played at a level below the first-class Western Warriors and other state teams. The competition is administered by the Western Australian Cricket Association. It is the premier club cricket competition in Western Australia and players vying for Western Warriors and national team selection are typically chosen from Premier Cricket competition clubs. Retiring international and first-class players wishing to continue playing will generally return to their original Premier Cricket club. There are currently 16 teams in the competition. History 1st Grade clubs compete for the 'Alcohol.Think Again District Cricket Competition Shield'. The First Grade minor premiers win the 'Kevin Sullivan Silver Cup' as well as a cash prize of $3000. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Lark Hill Sports Complex
Lark Hill Sports Complex is a multi-purpose sporting and recreation reserve at Lark Hill in Port Kennedy, Western Australia. It is located on 270 hectares of land approximately 60 km south of Perth, and is owned by the City of Rockingham. Stage one of the development costing $24 million was officially opened in 2008. Facilities Lark Hill currently provides sporting facilities for rugby union, rugby league, touch football, soccer, softball and cricket. There is also a synthetic field hockey pitch. The complex has lighting suitable for hosting night time events on all sporting fields, multiple changing room facilities, and grandstands for spectator sports events. Secret Harbour is an outer southern suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, located within the City of Rockingham on the Indian Ocean coast at Comet Bay. Perth Cricket Club is a cricket team based in Perth, Western Australia. The club competes in the Western Australian Grade Cricket (Premier cricket) competition. History The club was officially formed on May 23, 1862. at a meeting held at the Freemason's Hotel, on the corner of St Georges Tce and William St. Mr James B. Roe (son of John Septimus Roe) was the first Chairman and Captain of the Club. The club is a founding member in the formation of Western Australian Cricket Association in 1885. Stewart John Walters (born 25 June 1983 in Mornington, Victoria) is an Australian cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm leg break bowler. Cricket career Early career Walters played his early cricket for Midland-Guildford in the Western Australian Grade Cricket competition. He played under-age and second XI cricket for Western Australia before concentrating on county cricket in England. He also played seven games of Australian rules football for Swan Districts in the West Australian Football League. Dianella is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is within the local government area of the City of Stirling. Dianella was named after the botanical title of a small blue lily, ''Dianella revoluta'', a narrow-leafed plant that was plentiful in the area prior to residential development. History Early development of the area was slow, as the sandy soil, part of the Banksia sandplain, was considered unsuitable for agriculture. Mount Lawley District Cricket Club is a semi-professional cricket club which plays in Western Australian Grade Cricket competition which is now referred as Western Australian Premier Cricket. The club joined the Western Australian Cricket Association "A" grade district competition as the Maylands-Mount Lawley Cricket Club in 1924-25 after having applied for entry two years earlier. The name was changed to Mount Lawley Cricket Club in 1927–28. The club's first home ground was Maylands Oval, which later became known as Shearn Park. This was granted in 1923. Lilac Hill
Lilac Hill is a cricket ground in Western Australia in the Perth suburb of Caversham, where the Swan River flows around its southern and eastern sides. The ends of the ground are known as the ''river end'' and the ''pavilion end''. In 1990 the West Australian Cricket Association (WACA) hosted a festival match at the ground, with a Cricket Australia's Chairman's XI playing the touring English XI. Since then, the WACA has continued to host an annual match at Lilac Hill against the visiting international cricket team and a Chairman's XI. The inaugural 1990 match set an attendance record of 12,000 and subsequent years have attracted good crowds also.
