Western Australian Charity Orchestra
Western Australian Charity Orchestra Inc (WACO) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to ''changing lives through music.'' Their current ensembles include a full symphony orchestra the West Coast Philharmonic, West Coast Philharmonic Chorus and the WA Wind Symphony - all based in Perth, Western Australia. All ensembles are made up almost entirely of volunteers, and for many years the Western Australian Charity Orchestra produced concerts to help fund-raise for Western Australian charities. In 2017 WACO Inc became an Australian Registered charity in their own right, and now their volunteers work in the community to make a difference first-hand in the lives of others. Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. WAAPA
The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) at Edith Cowan University (ECU) was established in 1980 to provide performing arts tuition. WAAPA (commonly pronounced "whopp-a") operates as a part of ECU, located at the ECU campus in Mount Lawley, a suburb in Perth, Western Australia. Professor David Shirley is the Executive Dean of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), at Edith Cowan University. Churchlands Senior High School is an independent public secondary school located in Churchlands, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, approximately northwest from the Perth central business district. It is the largest school in Western Australia, with 2,758 students as of 2021. Background and history Churchlands Senior High School (Churchlands SHS) is a co-educational high school with a 2021 enrolment of approximately 2,758 students from Year 7 to Year 12. The school is located in Perth's western suburbs, from the Indian Ocean and from the city centre. On 6 November 1991, a female student was murdered in class when she was stabbed 18 times by her ex-boyfriend. Perth Concert Hall (Western Australia)
The Perth Concert Hall is a concert hall located in Perth, the capital of the Australian state of Western Australia. Owned by the City of Perth, the hall is the main venue of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and also hosts a number of other events and performances. The building itself is located in Perth's central business district, adjacent to the Supreme Court Gardens and Government House. The building has two façades: facing north over St Georges Terrace, and facing south over the Swan River. The concert hall was constructed on land granted to the City of Perth by the Government of Western Australia, and opened on Australia Day (26 January), 1973. Designed by Howlett and Bailey Architects, local architectural firm, the building is constructed in the Brutalist style, making heavy use of white off-form concrete and a solid opaque interior.
