Gordon Westcott
Gordon Westcott (born Myrthus Hickman, November 6, 1903 – October 30, 1935) was an American film actor. Biography Born in St. George, Utah, in 1903, Westcott studied architecture at the University of Chicago, where he was also lightweight boxing champion of the university. Westcott was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Westcott acted on stage in New York, Utah, and California, before he made the move to film. He became a contract player with Warner Brothers and appeared in 37 films between 1928 and 1935, starring alongside such up and comers as Bette Davis, Loretta Young and James Cagney. After appearing in a string of Pre-Code productions, and working with such directors as William A. Wellman, Busby Berkeley and William Dieterle, his film career ended with his death on October 30, 1935 from a skull fracture sustained in a polo accident that occurred three days earlier. John Westcott (politician)
John Westcott (June 16, 1807 – December 31, 1888) was an American surveyor and politician from the state of Florida. Westcott served as the surveyor general of Florida and the first president of the Florida Coast Line Canal and Transportation Company. Early life and education Westcott was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey on June 16, 1807. His father, James Westcott Sr., was formerly a newspaper publisher in Washington, D.C. before moving to New Jersey to enter local politics. Westcott's grandfather was a captain in the American Revolutionary War. In 1823, Westcott's father, through his association with the Delaware and Raritan Canal Company, became friends with Samuel L. Southard, one of New Jersey's United States senators. Southard sponsored Westcott for admission into West Point, and Westcott enlisted in the academy on July 1, 1823. James Diament Westcott, III (May 1, 1838 or June 18, 1838 – April 29, 1887), also known as James Diament Westcott, Jr., was an American politician from the state of Florida who served as the 19th Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Early life and education Westcott was born in the city of Tallahassee in the Florida Territory on either May 1, 1838 or June 18, 1838. Westcott is the son of James Westcott, an early Florida politician who would later serve as its U.S. Senator. William Wynn Westcott
William Wynn Westcott (17 December 1848 – 30 July 1925) was a coroner, ceremonial magician, theosophist and Freemason born in Leamington, Warwickshire, England. He was a Supreme Magus (chief) of the S.R.I.A and went on to co-found the Golden Dawn. Biography He was a doctor of medicine. In 1871 he became active in Freemasonry where he became Master of his home Lodge three years later and also the ''Quatuor Coronati'' research lodge (Master 1893–94). In 1879 he moved to Hendon. Stukely Westcott
Stukely Westcott (1592 – 12 January 1677) was one of the founding settlers of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations and one of the original members of the first Baptist Church in America, established by Roger Williams in 1638. He came to New England from the town of Yeovil in Somerset, England and first settled in Salem in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, but difficulties with the authorities prompted him to join Roger Williams in settling near the Narragansett Bay in 1638 at Providence Plantations. He remained there for a few years, but he was recorded as an inhabitant of Warwick in 1648, probably having settled there several years earlier. He was most active in colonial affairs from 1650 to 1660 when he was a commissioner, surveyor of highways, and the keeper of a house of entertainment.
