Frank Atha Westbury
Frank Atha Westbury (5 May 1838 – 24 September 1901), who wrote under the pen names of "Atha" and "Atha Westbury", was a popular and prolific author of detective fiction, mystery adventure novels, children's stories and poetry in late 19th century Australia and New Zealand. Most of his fiction was serialised in newspapers and journals between 1879 and 1905. His two major works were: ''The Shadow of Hilton Fernbrook, A Romance of Maoriland'' (1896) and ''Australian Fairy Tales'' (1897), which won him a place as one of the better-known writers for children in Victorian-era Australia. Many of his novels were adventure romances set in New Zealand at the time of the New Zealand Wars of the 1860s, which the author experienced as a soldier in the British Army. Gerald Westbury OBE FRCS (29 July 1927 – 12 June 2014), usually known as Charley Westbury, was an English surgeon who pioneered treatments for cancer, particularly sarcoma, developing techniques for preserving muscle function after surgery. He also developed new techniques of reconstructive surgery for cancers of the head and neck, and championed a multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment. Education and career Westbury was born in London and was educated at St Marylebone Grammar School, followed by studying medicine at Westminster Hospital Medical School. His National Service was carried out in the Royal Air Force, following which he became the resident surgical officer at the Brompton Hospital, then registrar at Westminster Hospital. Isabelle Mary Geraldine Westbury (born 8 March 1990) is a sports writer, broadcaster, lawyer and former cricketer. As a cricketer, she played as a right-arm off break bowler, playing for Somerset and Middlesex, as well as being part of the Western Storm squad in 2016. She captained Middlesex for two seasons, in 2015 and 2016. She also appeared in one One Day International for the Netherlands in 2005, whilst attending school in the country. June Westbury (July 26, 1921 – February 11, 2004) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. She was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1979 to 1981, sitting as a Liberal. Westbury was born, in Hamilton, New Zealand. The daughter of Philip William Cantwell and Doris "Dolly" Halcrow, Westbury was educated at Brian's College in Auckland, New Zealand, worked for the Auckland Savings Bank and moved to Canada in 1947. In 1949, she married Peter Westbury. She served as a Winnipeg city councillor from 1971 to 1979, and was associated with the Independent Citizens' Election Committee. Katherine "Kat" Westbury ( th, แคทเธอรีน เวสบุรี; born 14 March 1993) is a Thai-New Zealand tennis player. She reached her best singles ranking of world No. 576 on 3 October 2011, and made her Women's Tennis Association, WTA Tour debut at the 2015 ASB Classic, 2015 Auckland Open. Marjorie Westbury
Marjorie Westbury (18 June 1905 – 16 December 1989) was an English radio actress and singer. Her career lasted for more than fifty years. Born in Oldbury, Worcestershire, she studied Voice at the Royal College of Music in London between 1927 and 1930. During the 1930s, she made many radio broadcasts as a soprano from the BBC's studios in Birmingham. By the late 1930s, she had moved into acting as well as singing. This led in 1942 to a small part in Francis Durbridge's ''Paul Temple Intervenes''. In 1945, she took on the role of Paul's wife, Steve Temple, and continued to play the part until the radio serials came to an end in 1968. The surviving Paul Temple serials have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra. While "Steve Temple" might have been her longest-lasting role, she was a very frequent radio actress into the 1970s and beyond. Peter Westbury
Peter Westbury (26 May 1938 – 7 December 2015) was a British racing driver from England. He participated in two World Championship Formula One Grands Prix, scoring no championship points. In 1969 he raced a Formula 2 Brabham-Cosworth, driving in his first Grand Prix in the 1969 German Grand Prix. He finished ninth on the road, fifth in the F2 class. The following year he failed to qualify for the 1970 United States Grand Prix driving a works BRM, after an engine failure. Early in his racing career he campaigned a homebuilt special called the M.G.W., graduating to a Cooper-Climax in 1960 which was later fitted with a Daimler V8 engine. Westbury won the British Hill Climb Championship twice, in 1963 and 1964. In 1963 he drove the self-built Felday, with supercharged Daimler V8 2.6-litre motor. Richard Bethell, 1st Baron Westbury, (30 June 1800 – 20 July 1873) was a British lawyer, judge and Liberal politician. He served as Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain between 1861 and 1865. He was knighted in 1852 and raised to the peerage in 1861. Background and education Born at Bradford on Avon, in Wiltshire, he was the eldest son of the physician Richard Bethell of Bristol and Jane (''née'' Baverstock).
