Verdunville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Logan County, West Virginia, United States. It is west of Logan, the county seat. Verdunville has a post office with ZIP code 25649. The Verdunville CDP includes the neighboring community of Shegon. As of the 2010 census, the total CDP population was 687. The community's name commemorates the Battle of Verdun. Geography Verdunville is in west-central Logan County, in the valley of the Mud Fork, an east-flowing tributary of Island Creek and part of the Guyandotte River watershed. Mud Fork Road runs up the valley from Mount Gay in the east (near Logan), through Verdunville and Shegon to the northwest, and leads eventually to Dingess in Mingo County. Mount Gay-Shamrock is a census-designated place (CDP) in Logan County, West Virginia, United States. Mount Gay-Shamrock has a 2020 population of 1,360. Mount Gay-Shamrock is currently declining at a rate of -2.51% annually. The population was 1,779 at the 2010 census. The CDP includes the unincorporated communities of Mount Gay, Shamrock, Black Bottom, Whites Addition, Lintz Addition, Thompson Town, Hedgeview, Ridgeview, Logan Heights, Cora, and Whitman Junction. West Virginia Route 10
West Virginia Route 10 is a north–south route from Cabell County to Mercer County in the western and southern regions of West Virginia. Mostly a two-lane, winding highway with no shoulders, Route 10 is considered to be one of substandard design when compared to modern standards. Nevertheless, it serves as a major arterial highway in the state, carrying a substantial amount of traffic volume. Tractor-trailers have a particularly difficult time negotiating many of the route's sharp, hairpin curves. Between the towns of West Hamlin and Man, most of the route closely parallels the course of the Guyandotte River. Thus, it follows a very winding course, with a solid rocks just inches from the roadway, and is thus very dangerous. An upgrade from Man to Logan to a four-lane highway built to the same standards as the Appalachian Corridor System was completed the first part of September 2017. West Virginia Route 44 is a north–south state highway located within Logan County, West Virginia. The southern terminus of the route is at U.S. Route 52 one mile south of Mountain View.
