West Virginia Route 279
West Virginia Route 279 is an east-west highway within the state of West Virginia. Its western terminus is at County Route 707, which leads to WV 131. Its eastern terminus is an interchange with US 50. From east to west, the highway passes north of North Central West Virginia Airport before traveling through the Charles Pointe mixed-use master planned community. Bridgeport, West Virginia
Bridgeport is a city in eastern Harrison County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 9,325 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Clarksburg micropolitan area. The town of Bridgeport had its beginning in pre-American Revolutionary War times. In 1764, John Simpson entered the area and gave his name to Simpson Creek. Bridgeport was chartered in 1816. When the town was incorporated in 1887, it established the office of mayor and town council. The city currently employs a City Manager. Bridgeport is home to Meadowbrook Mall, a 100-store regional shopping complex serving North-Central West Virginia. History Bridgeport originally got its name from a cartographer's mistake. North Central West Virginia Airport
North Central West Virginia Airport is a public/military airport a mile northeast of Bridgeport and six miles east of Clarksburg, in Harrison County, West Virginia. It is owned and operated by the Benedum Airport Authority, serving Harrison and Marion County, and was formerly Benedum Airport and Harrison-Marion Regional Airport. The airport sees two airlines, with some passenger service subsidized by the Essential Air Service program. Federal Aviation Administration records say the airport had 36,917 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2018, 25,105 in 2017 and 10,694 in 2010. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a ''primary commercial service'' airport (more than 10,000 enplanements per year).
