West Virginia's 17th Senate District
West Virginia's 17th Senate district is one of 17 districts in the West Virginia Senate. It is currently represented by Republicans Tom Takubo and Eric Nelson. All districts in the West Virginia Senate elect two members to staggered four-year terms. Geography District 17 covers the southern half of Kanawha County, including parts of Charleston and the nearby communities of St. Albans, Tornado, South Charleston, Coal Fork, Pinch, Elkview, Clendenin, Marmet, Belle, Chesapeake, and Cedar Grove. Belle, West Virginia
Belle is a town in Kanawha County, West Virginia, United States, situated along the Kanawha River. The population was 1,171 at the 2020 census. Belle was incorporated on December 13, 1958 by the Kanawha County Circuit Court. It is the home of the Belle Bulldogs Elementary School. Belle Reynolds, an early postmaster, gave the town her first name. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and is water. Pollution Pollution had been noted in the air and water around Belle between 1988 and 2002, caused by the DuPont facility located there. The 2020 United States presidential election in West Virginia was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, as part of the 2020 United States presidential election in which all 50 states plus the District of Columbia participated. Jesse C. Johnson Jr. (born March 2, 1959) is an American environmental and political activist, actor, and filmmaker from West Virginia. Corey Palumbo
Corey Lee Palumbo (born August 16, 1972) is an American attorney and politician who represented the 17th district of the West Virginia Senate from January 14, 2009 until December 1, 2020. He previously served as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2003 to 2009. Palumbo did not run for reelection in the November 3, 2020 general election and was succeeded by West Virginia State Delegate Eric Nelson.
