West Mall
West Mall () is a shopping centre located in Bukit Batok New Town, Bukit Batok, Singapore, next to Bukit Batok MRT station. Background It was opened in 1998. It consists of eight storeys, for a total gross floor area of , and sitting on a land area of . West Mall houses a mix of retailers, such as fashion and accessory vendors, jewellery retailers, gifts and specialty stores, telcos, cafes and restaurants, a food court, a six-screen theatre, post office, community library, music school, electrical and household store and a supermarket. The mall also has a carpark occupying three basement levels. The latest addition to the mall was a The Cathay, Cathay Cineplex, which replaced Eng Wah Global, WE Cinema (formerly Eng Wah Cinemas) in February 2013. Eng Wah Global, formerly Eng Wah Organisation and Eng Wah Theatres Organisation, is a Singaporean company spans entertainment, properties, hospitality, and lifestyle in Singapore and Malaysia. Bukit Batok Public Library is located at Bukit Batok on the third floor of West Mall in Singapore, next to Bukit Batok MRT station. This is fifth library of the National Library Board that is located inside a shopping mall. The library was officially opened on 21 November 1998 by Deputy Prime Minister, BG (NS) Lee Hsien Loong. History The library begun operating soon after the West Mall was opened. The library is headed by Lim Puay Ling. It is a fully computerised library with a collection of 202,151 publications.
