West Falls Church Station
West Falls Church is a Washington Metro metro station, station in Idylwood, Virginia, Idylwood, Virginia on the Orange Line (Washington Metro), Orange Line, the first station inside the beltway on the Orange Line going east. It is one of only two stations in the system to have three tracks, the other being the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (Washington Metro), National Airport station. The center track is used for train storage, and for relaying trains to the adjacent Falls Church Yard. Facilities The station serves the suburban community of Falls Church, Virginia, Falls Church and the Northern Virginia Center operated by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia. Falls Church is an independent city (United States), independent city in the Commonwealth (U.S. state), Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the population was 14,658. Falls Church is included in the Washington metropolitan area. Taking its name from The Falls Church, an 18th-century Church of England (later Episcopal Church (United States), Episcopal Church) parish, Falls Church gained township status within Fairfax County, Virginia, Fairfax County in 1875. In 1948, it was incorporated as the City of Falls Church, an independent city with county-level governance status although it is not a county.
