West Coast Institute Of Training
West Coast Institute (formerly West Coast TAFE) is the TAFE institute servicing the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The institute, based in the Joondalup learning precinct north of the Perth Central Business District, became part of North Metropolitan TAFE on 11 April 2016. History The North Metropolitan College of TAFE began as two campuses in the Perth suburbs of Carine and Balga. Land for Carine Technical School was reserved on 19 March 1976 and an Order in Council giving authority to construct the college was gazetted on 22 April 1977. With the reconfiguration of technical and further education in Australia in the mid-1980s, the North Metropolitan College of TAFE came into being. Construction of the Joondalup campus commenced in 1989, and the administration centre and the first blocks of classrooms were completed in 1992. Joondalup () is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, approximately north of Perth's central business district. It contains the central business district of the regional City of Joondalup and acts as the primary urban centre of Perth's outer northern suburbs. History During the latter part of the 1960s, the '' Metropolitan Regional Planning Authority'' developed the '' Corridor Plan for Perth'' which was published and adopted in 1970. North Metropolitan TAFE
North Metropolitan TAFE is a state government-funded educational facility delivering Technical and Further Education (TAFE). It services the northern suburbs of Perth across ten campuses. It was formed on 11 April 2016, when the State Government announced after the ''Independent Review of the Vocational Education and Training Sector in Western Australia'', that the 11 State Training Providers would be streamlined and form five new TAFE colleges in Western Australia. This resulted in the merging of Central Institute and West Coast Institute to form North Metropolitan TAFE. At the beginning of 2017, two campuses (Balga and Midland) that were formerly part of Polytechnic West also joined North Metropolitan TAFE. Carine is a suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, and is located north of Perth's central business district (CBD) between Marmion Avenue and Mitchell Freeway. Swan TAFE
Polytechnic West (formerly Swan TAFE) was a State Training Provider established under section 35 of the Vocational Education and Training Act 1996 (WA) based in Perth, Western Australia. Polytechnic West is one of the largest training providers in the state and teaches and instructs in a range of areas from trade-based apprenticeships to business and finance to aviation across its eight campuses in Bentley, Carlisle, Midland, Thornlie, Balga, Jandakot and two Armadale campuses.
