West Charlotte High School
West Charlotte High School (also called Dub-C or WC) is a comprehensive high school in west Charlotte, near Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is state-funded. History West Charlotte High School was founded in 1938. The original campus became Northwest School of the Arts. It moved to its current location in 1954. West Charlotte is one of the few high schools still in existence whose students were African American during the era of segregation. During the next three decades, the school became the pride of the community, and students won statewide competitions, with a strong connection between students and parents. Beginning in the late 1960s, Swann v. IB Diploma Programme
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year educational programme primarily aimed at 16-to-19-year-olds in 140 countries around the world. The programme provides an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education and is recognized by many universities worldwide. Thereasea Delerine "T. D." Elder (September 2, 1927 – January 5, 2021) was the first African American public health nurse in Charlotte, North Carolina. Early life and education Elder was born Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the sixth child of Booker T. and Odessa Clark. Her father worked as a porter and her mother did domestic work in homes. Elder described her childhood as wonderful, and that her family taught her the value of education and religious faith, which have guided her life and career. From a young age Elder knew what she wanted to do, as a result, when she was a student at West Charlotte High School, Elder began working with Charlotte Memorial Hospital. Damon Jamal Collins (September 22, 1976 – October 26, 2014), nicknamed Mo Collins, was an American college and professional football player who was an offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons during the 1990s and early 2000s. Calvin Vance Brock (born January 22, 1975) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 2001 to 2007. He was ranked as the world's No.9 heavyweight by BoxRec at the conclusion of 2005.
