Dreschvitz
Dreschvitz is a municipality in southwest Vorpommern-Rügen, a district on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is managed from the '' Amt'' of West-Rügen with its head offices in the village of Samtens. Geography The village lies on the lagoon of Kubitzer Bodden. The villages of Bußvitz, Dußvitz, Güttin, Landow, Mölln, Ralow and Rugenhof all belong to the municipality of Dreschvitz. The island of Liebitz also lies within its territory. History The village was first mentioned in the records in 1314 on an entry in an old deed of ownership. Originally a dead-end village (''Gassendorf'') with four large estates, Dreschvitz is only 3 kilometres from the old so-called Salt Road (''Salzstraße''). Until 1326, the settlement was part of the Principality of Rügen and, thereafter, of the Duchy of Pomerania. Hiddensee
Hiddensee () is a car-free island in the Baltic Sea, located west of Germany's largest island, Rügen, on the German coast. The island has about 1,000 inhabitants. It was a holiday destination for East German tourists during German Democratic Republic (GDR) times, and continues to attract tourists today. It is the location of the University of Greifswald's ornithological station. Gerhart Hauptmann and Walter Felsenstein are buried there. Name The name ''Hedinsey'' surfaces as early as the ''Prose Edda'' and the ''Gesta Danorum'' written by Saxo Grammaticus and means "Island of Hedin". Neuenkirchen, Rügen
Neuenkirchen is a municipality in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. History Neuenkirchen is first mentioned in 1318 as ''Nygenkerke''. Until 1326, the village was part of the Principality of Rügen and, thereafter, the Duchy of Pomerania. Under the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648, Rügen, and thus the region of Neuenkirchen, became part of Swedish Pomerania. In 1815, Neuenkirchen went to the Prussian Province of Pomerania as part of New Western Pomerania. Since 1818, Neuenkirchen has been part of the county (''Landkreis'' or ''Kreis'') of Rügen. Only from 1952 to 1955 was it part of the so-called county of Bergen. From 1955 to 1990 it was part of the county (''Kreis'') of Rügen within the province of Rostock and, in 1990, also went into the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Trent, Germany
Trent is a municipality in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Geography Trent lies in the northwest of Muttland on the German Baltic Sea island of Rügen, about 17 kilometres northwest of the town of Bergen auf Rügen. The municipality is bounded in the north by the lagoons of the Wieker Bodden and Breetzer Bodden and in the east by the Neuendorfer Wiek bay.
