Wesley College, University Of Sydney
Wesley College is a co-residential college of 265 students within the University of Sydney. The college occupies a site on the main campus of the University of Sydney and was built on a sub-grant of Crown land. Wesley is one of six on-campus colleges at the University of Sydney which provide accommodation. In 1923 the college averaged 45 students. Originally the college accommodated only men but when women were admitted in 1969 Wesley became the first of the colleges within the University of Sydney to become co-educational. Its current head is Lisa Sutherland, who has held the position since 2010. The college chapel owns a Latin version of the Bible dated to 1479, which may be the oldest bible in Australia. Buildings The Edwardian Gothic main wing of Wesley dates from 1917 and was designed by the winner of a competition Byera Hadley (1872–1937), an English-born architect who had emigrated to Australia in 1887. Wesley College (Bristol)
Wesley College was a theological college in the Henbury area of Bristol, England, between 1946 and 2012. As the successor to an institution established in London in 1834, it was the oldest provider of theological education for the Methodist Church of Great Britain. The college was the core institution of the South West Regional Training Network of the Methodist Church, where its partners were the South West Ministerial Training Course in Exeter and the Southern Theological Education and Training Scheme in Salisbury. It was also involved with ecumenical education. Wellesley College is a private women's liberal arts college in Wellesley, Massachusetts, United States. John Wesley University was a private interdenominational Christian college in High Point, North Carolina. In 2018, the university merged into Piedmont International University in Winston-Salem. Background Known for many years as John Wesley College, the college changed its name to Laurel University in 2011 and John Wesley University in June 2016. John Wesley College
John Wesley College was the seminary of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa situated at Kilnerton in Pretoria, South Africa. It was most commonly referred to as John Wesley College Kilnerton. It opened at Kilnerton in 1994, and was replaced by the Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary, located in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, in January 2009. History The facility was first established as Kilnerton Institution in 1886 and situated in Weavind Park, a suburb of Tshwane (Pretoria), and was named after the Rev John Kilner, secretary of the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society who encouraged the formation of an indigenous clergy in South Africa. Wesley College was a private co-educational Bible college in Florence, Mississippi. Founded in 1944, it closed in July 2010. Wesley was a conservative Bible college in the Wesleyan-Arminian tradition. Wesley was founded by the Congregational Methodist Church and served as that denomination's sole institution of higher education. Wesley College was a private liberal arts college in Dover, Delaware. It was acquired by Delaware State University in 2021 and is now the DSU Downtown campus. History The institution was founded in 1873 as Wilmington Conference Academy, a prep school. During this period Annie Jump Cannon, a prominent astronomer who pioneered stellar classification, graduated valedictorian from Wilmington Conference Academy in 1880. It became a two-year college in 1918 and renamed the Wesley Collegiate Institute. It was renamed again in 1941 as Wesley Junior College, and again in 1958 as Wesley College. Wesley College, a school to educate the sons of the laity, opened in 1838 in new buildings designed by William Flockton on Glossop Road, Sheffield, England. It was founded by Rev. Samuel Dousland Waddy (1804–1876) to "supply a generally superior and classical education, combined with religious training in the principles of Methodism" and was initially called the "Wesleyan Proprietary Grammar School". Wesley Theological College
Wesley College, South Australia, was a Methodist Church of Australasia Theological College from 1927 to 1968. It was the successor institution to the Methodist Training Home at Brighton. In 1926 the struggling Chapman-Alexander Bible Institute transferred the property at 20 King William Road, Wayville to the Methodist Church for use as a theological college. In May 1927 the students transferred from Brighton and Wesley College was formed. Its official title was ''Wesley College: With Which is Incorporated the Australasian Chapman-Alexander Bible Institute''. Wesley College (Auckland)
Wesley College is a secondary school in Paerata, at the northern edge of Pukekohe, Auckland Region, New Zealand. The school provides education from year 9 to 13. The school was founded by members of the Methodist Church in 1844, making it one of the country's oldest schools. Initially located in Grafton and then the Three Kings area of Auckland, it closed in 1868 before reopening in 1876 in Three Kings again. From the beginning there was an emphasis on educating Maori boys, and also played a prominent role in educating students from countries of the South Pacific.
