The Weras Ganga Park (also known as ''Weras Ganga Bellanwila Recreation Park'') is a public park located in Bellanwila area, next to the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya in Colombo, Sri Lanka. History Weras Ganga Park was opened in 2014 as a part of Weras Ganga Development Project - Bellanwila Section. The construction work of the park was handled by the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Navy. The work has been carried out under the guidance of Defense and Urban Development Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and this work was initiated by the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation (SLLR&DC) based on a hydrological study carried out by JICA together with SLLR&DC for the preparation of a Master Plan to control flooding in Nugegoda, Rattanapitiya, Borelasgamuwa, Maha Ela and Ratmalana Ratmalana is a suburb in Colombo District, Western Province, Sri Lanka. Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya
Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya is a Buddhist temple situated in Bellanwila, Colombo District, Sri Lanka. Located around 12 km south to the Colombo city, near Dehiwala - Maharagama road, the temple attracts hundreds of devotees daily and is famous for its annual Esala Perehera festival which usually takes place in the month of August or September. Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa ( si, නන්දසේන ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ; ta, நந்தசேன கோட்டாபய ராஜபக்ஷ; born 20 June 1949) is a former Sri Lankan military officer and politician, who served as the eighth President of Sri Lanka from 18 November 2019 until his resignation on 14 July 2022.
