Wentzville Assembly
Wentzville Assembly is a General Motors auto and truck assembly facility in Wentzville, Missouri, opened in 1983. Located at 1500 East Route A in Wentzville, the 3.7 million square foot plant sits on 569 acres approximately 40 miles west of St. Louis, just off of I-70. With a similar floor plan to its contemporaries, Michigan's Orion Assembly and Hamtramck plants, the facility includes vehicle assembly as well as body stamping facilities. Originally manufacturing full-size Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac sedans, the plant assumed operations of the previous St. Louis Truck Assembly which had been in operation since 1920. Oldsmobile 98
The Oldsmobile 98 (spelled Ninety-Eight from 1952 to 1991, and Ninety Eight from 1992 to 1996) is the full-size flagship model of Oldsmobile that was produced from 1940 until 1942, and then from 1946 to 1996. The name – reflecting a "Series 90" fitted with an 8-cylinder engine – first appeared in 1941 and was used again after American consumer automobile production resumed post-World War II. It was, as it would remain, the division's top-of-the-line model, with lesser Oldsmobiles having lower numbers such as the A-body 66 and 68, and the B-body 76 and 78. The Series 60 was retired in 1949, the same year the Oldsmobile 78 was replaced by the 88. The Oldsmobile 76 was retired after 1950. The Oldsmobile 88 (marketed from 1989 on as the Eighty Eight) is a full-size car that was sold and produced by Oldsmobile from 1949 until 1999. The Buick Park Avenue is a full-size luxury car built by Buick. The nameplate was first used in 1975 for an appearance option package on the Electra 225 Limited. It became an Electra trim level in 1978 and its own model starting in the 1991 model year after the Electra was discontinued. There were two generations of the Park Avenue that were manufactured in the United States until 2005. Buick Electra
The Buick Electra is a full-size luxury car manufactured and marketed by Buick from 1959 to 1990, over six generations. Introduced as the replacement for the Roadmaster lines, the Electra served as the flagship Buick sedan line through its entire production and was offered as a six-passenger four-door sedan with two-door sedan, two-door convertible, and five-door station wagon variants. For all generations, the Electra used the initially rear-drive GM C Platform. For 1977, the Electra was downsized significantlyand once again in 1985, when the model adopted GM's new front-drive C Platform. Shreveport Operations
Shreveport Operations, officially the Shreveport Assembly and Stamping Plant, was a General Motors vehicle factory in Shreveport, Louisiana. The factory opened in 1981 and produced the company's compact pickup trucks along with Moraine Assembly in Dayton, Ohio. At one time 3,000 employees were on the payroll. Construction of the plant began in 1978. In 2002 expansion included a new stamping facility. The plant closed in August 2012 with the last truck being produced, a white Chevrolet Colorado. On the front of the vehicle, a banner read, "4,853,693rd". The Final vehicle that was assembled at the plant. At the time just over 800 hourly and salaried workers were employed there. Elio Motors had announced plans to begin using the facility in 2014 to manufacture a new three-wheeled vehicle. The production date has since been moved back to 2017.
