Wentworth By The Sea
The Wentworth is a historic grand resort hotel in New Castle, New Hampshire, United States. It is managed by Ocean Properties as "Wentworth by the Sea, A Marriott International, Marriott Hotel & Spa". It is one of a handful of the state's surviving Gilded Age grand hotels, and the last located on the Seacoast Region (New Hampshire), seacoast. Robert Wrenn
Robert Duffield Wrenn (September 20, 1873 – November 12, 1925) was an American left-handed tennis player, four-time U.S. singles championship winner, and one of the first inductees in the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Biography Wrenn was born in Highland Park, Illinois. Wrenn attended Harvard University, where he was a prominent quarterback on the football team. Wrenn was considered "one of Harvard's greatest all-around athletes," a star player at football, ice hockey, and baseball. Wrenn played a small role in the formation of collegiate ice hockey in the United States. In the fall of 1892, Wrenn and fellow tennis champion (and doubles partner) Malcolm Greene Chace played in an international tennis tournament in Niagara Falls, New York. Beals Coleman Wright (December 19, 1879 – August 23, 1961) was an American tennis player who was active at the end of the 1890s and early 1900s. He won the singles title at the 1905 U.S. National Championships. Wright was a two-time Olympic gold medalist, and the older brother of American tennis player Irving Wright. Biography Beals was born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 19, 1879 to George Wright, the shortstop for the Cincinnati Red Stockings and founder of the sporting goods store Wright & Ditson. Malcolm Greene Chace (March 12, 1875 – July 16, 1955) was an American financier and textile industrialist who was instrumental in bringing electric power to New England. He was a pioneer of the sport of ice hockey in the United States, and was Yale University's first hockey captain. He was also an amateur tennis player whose highest ranking was U.S. No. 3 in 1895. Frederick Howard Hovey (October 7, 1868 – October 18, 1945) was a male tennis player from the United States. Biography Frederick Howard Hovey was born on October 7, 1868 in Newton Centre, Massachusetts. His brother was George Rice Hovey, and his father was Alvah Hovey. Hovey won the NCAA men's singles championship in 1890 while attending Harvard University. In 1893 Hovey won the men's doubles title at the U.S. National Championships with his partner Clarence Hobart with a victory over Oliver Campbell and Robert Huntington. In 1895 he won the men's title at the U.S. National Championships after defeating Robert Wrenn in three straight sets in the Challenge Round. That same year Hovey was ranked No. 1 in the United States. He died on October 18, 1945 in Miami Beach, Florida.
